I know we have a couple of Rangers and Army guys on here. I have heard the women did not have the same standards as the men and instructors were pressured to be easier. I read where they were informed of the presidents attendance of graduation at the beginning of the swamp patrols. I am not in the army but have a few friends, Rangers, who are very upset about this. Thoughts

quote:

The pair, whose names the Army did not release, completed a 62-day combat course that includes a grueling 12-mile march across rugged terrain in Ft. Benning, Ga., two-day climbing exercises in the mountains of northern Georgia, and 10 days of small-unit tactics in the sweltering swamps of Florida.

Why should the military be any different than the rest of US life?

the social acceptance shite doesn't really have a place in a might military. If they had finished the normal standard then good they belong. However, turning the exercise into a participation trophy is wrong.

I've picked up a plane load of Rangers following this training...the entire plane stinks instantly, it'll make you gag.

It will work itself out, there will be an honorable solution, and somebody will be in the political game.

The same old guys will still be doing the same old stuff.

Let it go by, get back to bidness.

Why would you want to start a thread this way? Do rumor and innuendo count for fact with you? Is there no evidence one way or another? Are you a mysogynist?

I'm all for equality. Gay, straight, woman or man. If you can pass all of the standards across the board you should be in. You don't however lower your standards to create more diversity, especially in this particular job.

Army officials insisted the standards were not changed in any way.

Also, on the NBC news tonight the retired Army general who is a consultant (failed to get his name) for the show said the standards for the men and the women were exactly the same.

It seems that the two women who completed the rigorous training are for real. Congratulations to them and the other soldiers who earned their Ranger Tabs.
