how do grad students who went to another school for undergrad shake out at a&m?

the respective college's network?

aggie ring, socially, etc?

seems like a fairly well connected school, but im looking at a&m because of time and price. there are other one year type programs that are good, but the price seems to high for not having an internship. i dont wanna go back to school for two years so thats really narrowed down my choices. also, the a&m program has an internship inside of a 16 month program, that is insanely bad arse.

You get the network. That little ring has some serious power, especially in Texas.

What program are you looking at?

I was friends with several biology/chemistry/engineering grad students during my last couple of undergrad years at A&M, and the ones who came from other schools fit in just fine. Went to the games, the same bars, etc. Yes, they can get Aggie rings (and many do) and yes the network helps with job prospects.

For reference, two of A&M's biggest academic and athletic donors only went to grad school here.

And I think fitting in is a choice.

ive checked out the program, rankings, etc. just wanted to hear what aggie alumni think of the situation.

yeah thats what made it stand out. internship inside a 16 month program. i havent seen that anywhere. definitely sets it apart. there are several top notch programs with one year mbas, but no internship.

no doubt, but no sense in paying for an alumni network that would be lukewarm about grad students (thats what i meant by social, shoulda just left it at networking). as far as hanging out, games, etc. i would fit in fine just about anywhere. im easy.

theGarnetWay can probably give you some good perspective on this as he was in the same boat. Think he said he was in one of the Bush School graduate programs and had come from South Carolina undergrad.

i just started taking some math classes (i "got by" with nub calc for biz during school)and wanna make sure i do well on the quantitative part of the gmat.

looks like an awesome mba program. still cant believe you get an internship inside a 16 month program. ima look at it again tomorrow and see if its still true.

The ring is up to you. One of my buddies got a PhD at A&M. He was much older than us, but he rolled with us. We talked him into getting a ring. He was not from an SEC school though.

yeah, i mean, doing all the networking, social life and getting a ring would probably be a big part of getting an mba. seems like i would be shorting myself if i didnt.

ill always be roll tide, but a&m looks like it has a very solid mba program. there are a few schools that rank a little higher with a one year, but they dont have an internship.

i started looking this stuff up today and a&m looks like the best combination of time/money/network/quality that i could find. was only looking at one yearish type programs. was pleasantly suprised. im career switching so i have to have an internship.

Can personally attest to this. I would be unemployed right now if not for the Aggie Network. Can't praise it enough.
