He really didn't. Chavis bitched out at such a horrible time, the best guys were gone. We could have had Muschamp.

It seems well known in the LSU circles some big names were very much interested. You and I will never know anyways.

I agree. I just try and respond to some posts that seemingly aren't trolls on the SECR

This. All the available ones were hired and the contenders signed extensions with current schools by the time Chavis left.

CLM got who he wanted. He was not going to pay $1.6M for Muschamp. Steele was the first guy interviewed. Bebe was not even interviewed for DC. CLM sat on the plan until the dead period was up because without a DC he was able to contact recruits during this period. As soon as the dead period was up holy moly we had an DC and new DL coach... imagine that.

Several other people got raises due to this opening like Clemson DC.
