Joe McKnight went off. This was when Hoover fans were annoying, so it was nice to quiet them down for a few weeks.

He only touched the ball 7-8 times. Imagine if Curtis used him as a workhorse.

None of his players ever did anything significant for Bama, and his best QB, JPW, was a garbage QB in college.

JPW led Bama to a 12-0 regular season... and he wasn't Probst's best QB IMO. I think Jarrod Bryant was better, he started multiple years for Navy.

Hoover Probst players who did stuff at Bama:

-Josh Chapman. 2 year starter at NG, starter on a NC team, 3rd round draft pick, and current NFL starter.
-Cory Reamer. 2 year starter at LB, starter on a NC team
-Will Lowery, from walk-on to significant role player in the secondary and special teams

I can think of three players from Hoover under Probst that didn't work out at Bama, all three were head cases who wouldn't have worked out anywhere.

-Curtis Dawson, borderline retarded thug
-Kerry Murphy, borderline retarded, and emotional headcase after his brother was murdered his first year at Bama
-Patrick Crump, pill head

Hoover is a public school, and 70% white. That just adds to how good he is.

Yeah, I was at that game. He didnt touch the ball much but he didn't have to, Hoover had no answer for him. He single handily won them that game. He scored 3 of the TDs I think and put them in positions for the other TD. At least two of his TDs were long 50+ yard plays.

That was the worst Hoover team in my time there. The QB was garbage. He had a 6'5" WR that signed with Clemson that he threw to twice in that game, once in triple coverage on a desperation bomb into the endzone with the game on the line. Instead his favorite target was his best frien, a 5'9" white kid who during that game was a few weeks removed from passing out drunk at a party and getting backed over by a Tahoe.

Most years Hoover would stomp JC

The football team may be 70% white, but unless there has been a major shift in the last 5 years then Hoover HS is closer to 85% white.

It wasn't apparent until you were sitting in the lunchroom and noticed there was 2 or 3 tables of mostly black kids in a giant lunchroom vs 50 tables of mostly white kids.

and the census says the city of Hoover is 87% white so that's my guess.

Question: you mention his salary. Does everyone think 100k at his or at the HS level is normal or ok?

But how does that make Propst a better coach?

The only people making that much are those who have advanced degrees and have been teacher for 25 plus years unless they're administrators.

It doesn't. A team with 100 white kids on the side line should beat a team with 30 black kids.

But Hoover isn't the largest school in the state, so their domination isn't based only on numbers.

Those Italian leather loafers are always impressive at the Saturday morning playoff meetings in Montgomery.

I upset him one year. I walked down the stairs in the AHSAA offices and stepped on his toe in my black Nike coaching shoes.

It was crowded.

He has been successful even if it has unorthodox clothing choices for a high school coach.

And I also know a guy who worked with him that has good things to say.

ETA: This was a response to a comment about Hoover's current coach...not Propst.

Sorry. Some where trying to compare JC to Hoover. My point is private schools have an advantage with recruiting, etc.

Look at how much can he did in 2008. 9 TDs to 4 INTs. We barely used him cause he was a liability.

JC Curtis is nothing but a football factory. They illegally recruit players and give them scholarships for "academics" and bullshite, juice up on steroids, and are about as dirty as they come.
