So many haters in here. East TX is the best place on earth.
If you want to chill on the lake for the weeken, we've got plenty of that. You want golf, we have that, too. Though I wouldn't go to the beach, that would require going to orange and it's full of WT.
Come visit NE Texas, stay at a B&B in Marshall and drive out to Caddo Lake for a steamboat tour. It's the most picturesque lake in the world. Or you can come to Tyler, the rose capital of the world, take advantage of our Southern Hospitality and stay a night on Lake Palestine and play one of our nice area golf courses.

East Texas offers...scrub pines?
Wrong. Scrub pine doesn't grow in ET, baw. We have the tallest, greenest pines in the world.

East Texas has plenty to offer but it's pretty wet right now so I'd say the Carolinas right now

No. This is the part where I say that you can find that in any swamp in Louisiana, Georgia, or Florida.

But those places aren't sacred like Texas

Texas is only sacred to Texans, and I've spent quite a bit of time there.
There are a ton of things in the Carolinas that you just can't find in Texas. It's that simple.

Carolinas win this question hands down.
Hilton Head Island
Kiawah Island
Isle of Palms (Charleston)
There are even some nicer houses you can rent on Daufuskie Island now too.
are all great choices.
One of the spots I'm like more as I get older though is actually Bald Head Island up near Cape Fear in NC.

what a stupid statement.

Well, there are a ton of things that you can find in Mississippi that you can't find in Georgia. That doesn't mean that I want to vacation there.

Hit Charleston and Wilmington and that's a wrap.

good move everyone... we missed out on an opportunity for nice troll job on the OP.
would have looked forward to when OP comes back to the rant to complain about how shitty east texas is for visitors.
OP the only thing in Texas that can compare to the Carolinas is the Hill Country. Everything else is nothing but jobs.
Texas is a great place to make a living but so so to visit. but I live here so what do I know...

Nah there is stuff to see and do but it's not a top destination by any means (east Texas)

The Carolinas are beautiful in places and the beaches are nicer than the Texas beaches I've seen, although I've never been to South Padre. NC takes the cake for having the tallest stretch of Appalachian mountains, and the Outer Banks along the coast, which are really exquisite. but its either or, mountains or beach.

in Dallas and Houston, you have JFK and Nasa.
Outside those two cities you have Blue Bell(lol) and David Koresh/Branch Davidians.
