Tell me more about all the championships Kentucky has one with their one and done system.

I hope they don't try to force these kids to work for free any longer than the 1 years they are already forcing when they stop allowing them to jump to the NBA from high school.
What about the baseball system.. Wanna go pro from high school? Sure. But if you're coming to college you have to stay for 3 years.

There are a lot of things killing college basketball. The one-and-done doesn't help in terms of helping the game with the average fan, but the inconsistencies in officiating, the dimensions of the lane, the awful zone defenses all help to bog things down on the offensive end, which makes the game tough to watch.
However, the idea that the game wouldn't benefit from seeing some of these guys play multiple seasons is absurd. Of course the game is going to be better if Anthony Davis is playing for three years. By the time Davis really took off his freshman year, college fans got to admire him for maybe two or three months before he was gone. College basketball desperately needs some stars to build around. It's just not going to happen in this day and age.
I'd like to see the NBA let high school players make themselves available for the draft. If they don't like where they are picked, they can forgo the draft and go to college. However, once they do that, they are locked into the college game for three years. This way, the guys who are late 1st round picks and especially 2nd round picks essentially would be making the choice between the D-League and big-time college hoops. I think that would help the college game develop some star power and allow players to develop their all-around games.

Why do they have to stay 3 years? Probably why college baseball isn't that great because top prospects go pro out of high school instead of being forced to wait 3 years.

You act like winning it all with talent is easy. I'd think an Alabama Football fan would understand how it's not.
But you'd have to be silly to deny the results for Cal and UK when it's been an Elite Eight, two Final Fours, a Runner-Up, and a National Championship in his 6 seasons at UK.

On a micro level it does no harm whatsoever. UK was quite entertaining and has been for years.
On a Macro level it does hurt the game a bit. UK has been on a final 4 tear and Cauley-Stein is the only player I can name off of any of the final 4 teams. Just different, and not great imo.

You mean the one 3 years ago with Anthony Davis and 2 Final four appearances the last two years?

I'm not denying the results. Coach Cal has put together a very impressive run at UK.

Don't forget to mention skill.
Sure the players are more athletic today but most players have limited skills.
Ball handling is an issue, no midrange game, and no understanding of the game in general. Players now are all about dunks and 3s. This is not only lacking in the college game but the NBA as well.
I’m not sure why the NBA doesn’t want kids to stay in college longer to develop their skills and improve their product because it is shite right now. I assume it has something to do with GMs under pressure of losing their jobs and hoping they land the next big superstar by drafting a 19 year old with major upside.

Yes.. The one championship.

I went from not missing an LSU game in nine years to not attending an LSU game for nine years. It may not have killed it, but it killed it for me.

How many one-and-dones has LSU had? Can't be that many.

Don't forget the 2013 NIT road game.

So you just stopped going to LSU games because of a rule hasn't had much of an effect on LSU at all?
That sounds like a personal issue with LSU Basketball more than the one and done rule.

Oh,not at all. That was just another "result" of Coach Calipari's tenure.

More are coming. It's only a matter of time when you keep adding talent to talent. Four years ago people said he'd NEVER win even one championship with the one-and-done system. Now he's getting knocked for only having won one. I think I read that UK has been to like 15 Final Fours and Calipari can claim four of those in just six years. That's pretty amazing.
With that said, I'm not sure how much longer he'll coach there. Can't imagine it would be more than about five or six more years. I'd still expect him to win at least one more title before he leaves there.

This is a great point. I enjoyed the NCAA tournament for this yr than I have in years. Largely because Wisconsin and ND played a brand of basketball I enjoy watching. We need more of that.

It certainly hurts in the experience category. Imagine those one and done players 4 years later and the impact they would have on a team during the tournament.
Now, obviously it's better to have them play one year vs none at all, but that doesn't change the initial point of this post.Basically, it's talent vs experience.
The point you appear to be fighting holds some validity, IMHO. Yes these high profile one and done players add excitement, but they also at times run around like chickens with their heads cut off, not having a full understanding of the game. So, while its nice having highly rated players, that talent isn't always enough to make up for their lack of experience in the game as a whole.
