He has absolutely dominated for the USA basketball team, he was the FIBA 17u world championships MVP. Nobody gives two fricks about an all star game. There is a reason he is projected to go in the top ten in 2016.

Once again I will point out a mock draft for 2 drafts away means absolutely nothing. The twins were lottery picks coming out of high school, look how that turned out.

Not saying he will or wont, just that he doesn't seem near polished enough right now as a PG (if that's what he wants to be) to be a lottery pick.

Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio is saying that Newman has a weird situation with folks around him. Newman has been a Kentucky lean for the past 2 years, and now it is sounding that he may go overseas to play ball and then go to the draft. Weird situation, but...but it looks like it is 50/50 he is going to skip college and work on his skills in another country.

You could've disregarded this after he says Kentucky lean for 2 years. That immediately shows that he's never spoken to Malik or his dad.

Please show me a draft in which the twins were ever considered lottery picks.

Loooooooove how LSU fans are now poo pooing on Malik as a player. Guess they see the writing on the wall. On Malik not taking officials. He is waiting to see Kasonga visit. He wants to make sure he likes everything. Madonna will commit soon after visit. THEN Malik commits to the bulldog. Not even tempted to go overseas. That's stupid. If you think it you are stupid.

The ones from when they were out of high school, they were Top 10 players out of high school and were getting thrown into 2014 mock drafts as lottery picks. Is it really that unheard of? People have no clue what a draft will really look like 2 years from now.

Diamond Stone, Thon Maker, Stephen Zimmerman, and Chase Jeter are all top 10 prospects and not projected lottery picks. The Harrison's game has never looked like it would translate well to the NBA. Is it really that hard to understand?

100% and he's still projected a first rounder. I was just pointing out that just because you're a top 10 prospect doesn't mean you're automatically considered a lottery pick. The Harrison twins have never been considered NBA ready.

Regardless of whatever motivations you think people have, Newman hasn't done well in these games lately. I hope he's able to put it together in the Jordan Brand Classic.

They were top 10 national prospects (ranked almost right where Newman is) and at 6'5-6'6 were considered lottery picks the following year coming out of high school in mock drafts. I very specifically remember the hype surrounding them. This is just showing mock drafts for guys in high school mean nothing. Some will be 1 and done lottery picks, a good bit also will not.

You're going to stay butthurt for 2 months if Malik goes to State

State fans just can't seem to grasp reality. We want Malik, but we won't be upset or "butthurt" if we don't land him.

We return all our guards, but not one is a true PG. that's why we want Malik. We can offer him a catalyst of super star players to distribut the ball to, as well as national and TV exposure. Something State cannot, and will not be able to offer for quite some time.

I could care less either way. Going to MSU is a lot better for us than him going to UK.

On the flipside if he does in fact choose LSU you guys will be crying big time after all this. Malik would be just another drop in the bucket for us in our recruiting class, meanwhile he's the "program changer" for you.

The number 4 player in the country will never be just another drop in the bucket for LSU. You've managed to get two very good players to sign on with yall, but don't start thinking your UK or Duke.

Sorry, but he is. Our season isn't a dependent on him. Nor has he performed like the #4 player as of late. Granted it's not the best catalyst with everyone wanting to "be the guy" including Newman himself.

Simmons appears to be the least shelfish in the entire recruiting class, yet is the most NBA ready prospect of the entire recruiting. You have sword. A guard that won't even be playing overseas he's so meh.

LSU can offer
#1 player as teammate
Starting time
ability to play as he chooses in jonny's player friendly system
Catalyst of elite-great players in Simmons, blankey, Patterson, Hornsby and quarterman(triple double last year, and one of only 3 players in LSU history to do so.)
Tons and tons and tons of national spotlight

State can't offer anything on that list other than starting time.

You obviously don't know much about basketball, but the point guard position is the most important position on the court. LSU currently doesn't have one or anyone that can play it sufficiently.

Also, why the hell are you basing your opinion of Newman off of one all star game when he has shown out at various camps and is the only player to ever be a 2X MVP of the U-17 tournament?

You're proving my point for me. Yes LSU doesn't have a true PG at the moment. But Malik is more of a combo guard than anything. He'd be allowed to run at PG, but unlike state, when he needed to rest we could sub in Quaterman, Patterson, or Gray. We sometimes run with 4 guards on the court. With Simmons being a hybrid point forward it will be even more exciting for the guards. With Newman we still wouldn't have a true point, but we'd have a abundance of talent to choose from.

I didn't base my opinion off of him after a few all star games. In fact I stated it isn't the best gauge given the egos you see. You're not very good at reading are you?
