I know Steele is the DC, but I'm more anxious to see what Orgeron will bring to the DL. We definitely have the talent, but we just need someone to light the fire under their arses. If we can generate pressure on the QB,
More pressure up front leads to more INTs...

If Orgeron can get our extremely talented front 4 to play like an extremely talented front 4, we could be a top 10 defense nationally. Our LB's had to make too many plays due to the passivity of our DL.

Had our DL played to it's potential last year, it could have been record setting. We had a #9 defense with mediocre line play, think on that for a moment.

The real question: will Chavis be able to change the aggies lack of chest?

Defense will improve without 3rd and Chavis blowing leads late in the game

LSU will be a top two defense in the conference, like usual.

Pretty much this. One of the bigger questions in the conference is whether or not A&M will see any improvements on defense.

There will be a transition phase with Steele, Orgeron, and Ball, but with the young talent we have on D, it should be pretty seamless.
I expect us to have a Top 3 SEC defense and Top 10 nationally.

Since 2002 LSU has finished in the top 10 8 times, and in the top 20 11 times. LSU will be fine.

How do you see Kevin Steele's first season going?

Better than last.

Do players respect him as much as they did Chavis?

They really didn't have any respect for Chavis, they used to call him "shithead" behind his back. It was all about the position coaches when he was here.

I heard one player tell Chavis to "shut your fat arse up" one time

the next day he was on a flight to College Station

All I know is that LSU's defense will always be better than Aggie's defense.

The OC actually has an excuse though. Losing 3/4 NFL WRs, 2 NFL running backs, starting FB, an NFL guard, and an NFL QB. Chavis lost two defensive tackles and that's basically it. That whole defense was veteran yet still shite the bed.

The improvement in our defense after Beckwith replaced Welter was palpable. But the fact that it took Chavis 1&1/2 years to replace Kevin Minter is simply not acceptable. He needed to have another MLB ready to step in and he didn't. Rushing D totals tell the tale.

Also, we managed to climb back to #9 after giving up huge rushing yardage in the beginning of the year (see, Welter, D.J.).

Was Chavis able to flip that linebacker from ULL?

Haha yes I think so. We're talking about the guy from Boutte?

I can see an improvement with the DLine. They have actually been below average for the past 2 seasons and I think O can actually motivate them. Hearing good things from people who have attended multiple practices this spring.
DB's will be DB's. I expect much of the same.
LB's will be the key. Losing Kwon hurts but Debo should fill in and has a good bit of experience already. I think Beckwith should also improve with a full year of playing LB under his belt.
Ultimately, it will come down to Steele's game planning which is unknown until September. I have high hopes, we will see. Doesn't look like anyone else in the SECW is easing up in the near future.

LSUs current DC was on the staff that held Stumblin to ZERO points last year, I'm sure LSU will be perfectly OK on D.

DB coach Corey Raymond could easily call the same D LSU ran under Chavis, the Mustang package isnt some groundbreaking super secret scheme, it's just Press coverage and playing Man to Man, good luck running it with your current crop of D talent

Aggie needs to look in the mirror on O, you'll never win shite without a running game.
