Wellers is the most underrated bourbon there is. Everything they make is good. You can get a fifth of 12 year old for 20 bucks. That is crazy! No complaints here tho.

Woodford is one of the bourbons that actually lives up to the hype. Most of your really good bourbons are relatively unknown to the average drinker, but Woodford keeps passing the test. It's great. Reasonably priced too.

Have you had the woodford finished in Pinot barrels? I'm curious about that.

I've never heard of 18 Year Pappy. I've had the 10, 12, 15, 20, and 23 bourbon, and a 13 rye, but I've never seen or even heard of an 18 year.
As far as everyday drinkers, Booker's is nice and bold. Rittenhouse Rye is nice and spicy, and Buffalo Trace is a simple but not boring easy sipper.

It's my brand of choice

It's a special blend they do for me on occasion.

I can't afford to get some of shite y'all be talking about but I do like Knob Creek and Makers Mark. My go-to has always been Crown Royal even though I know it's not the best.

Agreed. Have zero problem with Knob or MM. Also, I tried Crown Royal for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it wasn't bad.

That's a fairly embellished claim offered as fast rather than opinion.
I do agree that Weller 12 yr old is damn good bourbon for the money.

Some of the ones listed on here like Weller Antique, Weller 12 year, Rittenhouse Rye, and Buffalo Trace are all cheaper than Knob Creek.

Bulleit rye is distilled in a giant factory in Indiana. If you want an actual good bourbon, go with their regular stuff.
That is like those Salsa commercials about New York City.

This. Woodford is just so nice and consistently smooth and drinkable. It's a perfect sipping bourbon that isn't cheap but it isn't too expensive either. My backup is Bulleit and I like it but it isn't as smooth as Woodford.

Buffalo trace is fantastic for the price.
This.
Also 1792, great bang for your buck.

I've read it's made in the same lots as pappy, but the best barrels become pappy 12 and the others become weller's 12.

I would think one should know automatically that "underrated" can't really be quantified and is an opinion.

Anyone tried the a ghetto Pappy thing where you mix the Wellers?
Posted on 3/16/15 at 1:26 pm to Rebelgator
I have read about it, but not tried it. IMO it is a hoax and a waste of good bourbon. If you want a bolder, higher alcohol content like the 15 yr pappy, drink the Antique (107) proof. If you want a smoother sip like the 20 year pappy, drink the 12 year. Mixing the two together can neutralize the pros/cons of each of the Weller bourbons, but I just cannot see how the combination of two inferior products can produce something that compares to something that has aged longer and more gracefully.

That Buffalo Trace distillery just crushes it in the quality department. Pappy, Weller, standard Buffalo Trace, Blanton's, EH Taylor.....ridiculous.
Posted on 3/17/15 at 8:42 am to RedPants
Agreed! While I don't have any EH Taylor or Blanton's in my cabinet right now, EH Taylor Barrel Proof is next on my list and I've never met a bottle of Blanton's I didn't like!
