Gurley was quite simply a generational back in college. Ran hard, ran angry and was just better than everyone else on the field.
Chubb could get there...so far, he seems to be missing the anger but what is really special about him is his ability to change direction in traffic, and even while someone is trying to tackle him, find daylight and score. He also seems to just refuse to go down on first, or even second contact.

One of the main differences between Chubb and Gurley is the difference between Chubb and Fournette that have some believing Fournette is - or will be - the better back.
Gurley looks like a total beast in pads. Chubb - not so much.
During our first game against Clemson, I was watching the game with a bunch of family members in in Alabama. They had heard a lot about Michel and Chubb and were looking forward to seeing them. Michel comes in the game, looks the part and plays well.
Then Chubb gets onto the field. My brother in law the Bama fan: "THAT'S Chubb????" And I kind of thought the same thing. He looked short, small, and his helmet looked to be about two sizes too big. I had to tell them he was built like a tank, but they had their doubts. Plus, I think he was stopped behind the line on his first run.
Then he ran through two Clemson defenders, lost his too large helmet, and carried on. Later he ran through the entire frickin' Clemson defense with one shoe on his way to the end zone. They then believed.
But with Gurley, you see him walk on the field and you know some defenders are about to need traction. And I think 'the look' factor does play a part in how Chubb is being judged. Not fair, but what the hey.
