Gonna sanction them for a kid who signed his financial aid papers AND then decommitted. Sorry... but that's BS.

It's about time that kids be held accountable for shite like this. Suspend them for a few games or something

No matter what school you pull for you 100% have to agree that this ruling is bullsh!t. It could very well have happen to any SEC school. With recruiting as competitive as it is for kids, schools have to offer FAA papers to EE recruits with the chance to increase contact time.

They knew he could decommit still. LSU should and will pay the price.

How is that NOT a contractual agreement?

Contracts don't necessarily need to be in writing. Dude is acting like they have an agreement. LSU acts in reliance on the agreement (proved by the kid's behavior), and now LSU has suffered damages on several levels.

LSU should enforce his behavior as if a letter of intent and force his punk arse to sit out a year before playing elsewhere, plus loss of red shirt.

Agree. Clearly Richt has lost control of NCAA rules. Seriously though, the rule is bullshite.

It's not really the ruling I'm concerned about, but the NCAA's consistency. Florida didn't so much as a slap on the wrist and LSU gets sanctions for this??

It's a dumb rule, but a rule nonetheless. LSU knew the risk, accepted it and got burned. Maybe they will be more careful in the future.

The kid acted within the rules. The LSU staff chose to take advantage of the rule of unlimited contact with the knowledge that the recruit was not firmly committed to attending LSU.

I think neither one can be given a pass from responsibility. Continuing to just brush it aside as a dumb rule won't make the sanctions disappear.

If the rule wasn't in place then staffs would ask several to sign FAA papers to gain unlimited access. Either the rule to allow signing an FAA has to be fixed or this one stays in effect and teams take their chances.
