SEC Rant started by an LSU fan...would it exist otherwise?

Used to be the SEC Rant was just another part of the Tiger Rant. Would another board covering another team have spawned an equivalent to the Sec Rant? If so, which board and/or which fan base would have done it in your opinion?
Honest question, hoping for honest answers. Please state your reasons for your opinion.
My gut feeling is, no, nothing like the Sec Rant would exist if not for Chicken. Most other fan boards are circle jerks and not welcoming to other fans IMO.

This post is an LSU circle jerk

Very few males are flexible enough to self-fellate.
Well done, we're all quite impressed

Conference message boards do exist you know.

Yes, I do know that. And there is a quantitative and qualitative difference between what the SEC Rant has become and any other conference message board.
I shouldn't have to tell you this.

It should be noted that the SEC Rant in its original form was created by Chicken in order to accommodate the number of Alabama fans on the board.
You're welcome.
You're welcome.

Your making my point for me. An Alabama board would never have done the same. We know this because LSU fans are still banned from Tidefans, for example.
Backatacha.

I'm banned from Tidefans. What's your point?

*You're
and I was banned from tide fans as well.
Awful site with the worst moderation I've ever seen.

What I said in the OP:

You're doing nothing to change my mind.

I didn't mean for this to be anything but a frank, honest discussion of whether people agreed or disagreed with the OP.

TigerDroppings is the greatest sports message board on the planet earth. Period.
I started checking this place out when I was just a young teen. Even after attending the finest university in the world, I couldn't stop using this incredible website.

I credit Chicken & and the team with being savvy businessmen than any particular innate trait that comes with being an LSU fan.

While I agree with the first part of your sentence, I think you give us LSU fans too little credit. We have always had lives apart from sports. Still do. I believe that LSU fans are just naturally more hospitable than most.
I'm quite sure that there are any number of savvy businessmen that are Alabama fans, for example. What I don't believe is that anything like the SEC Rant would have occurred to them, or succeeded if it had. It's just not in your nature, IMO.

See, I disagree.
There are no inherent qualities associated with being a fan of any particular school or franchise. People are people, regardless of their fandom. We talk shite to one another, but apart from Vandy folks (who are inevitably grads, and not just fans), we are demographically the same.
Wearing orange and blue, purple and gold, or red and white do not change who you are.

Lol, wut? Not even close. Again, here we are, on what was once just a minor part of an LSU fan board. Not an Alabama, Georgia, Florida, or any other fan board.
Alabama fans would not, IMO, have welcomed an influx of fans from other fan bases. Most fans wouldn't have tried anyways, in all probability. And that's true of other fan sites as well.
You could actually make the case that Alabama fans came here to troll LSU fans and stayed, because it was better than anything they had.

Yes, close. We are all Southerners. We share a culture (while S LA/Cajun culture is unique, it has been watered down by decreased isolation and mass culture), similar passions, and living situations.

I don't disagree, but that is not something I attribute to anything unique to being a fan of LSU - but as tolerance and savvy by Chicken. They saw the opportunity, and made choices as businessmen, not as fans.

Yes.

You could say the same thing about southern culture in general, but there is still a noticeable difference.

You couldn't have one without the other. My point is, another fan site that tried what Chicken did here would have failed...another fan base just wouldn't have gone along with that. They'd either complain, or leave. That didn't happen here.

Complaining about Gumps is exactly why the SECRant exists. They didn't want that shite on the Tiger Rant, so they made a place for us to Gump around.
