I would not draft any RB in the first round ever again and I would have to give serious thought to a second rounder. Too many better positions to draft higher than a RB unless the pro game changes a lot.
Quality RB's are a dime a dozen. Considering the short career of a RB, not sure how much value you get out of a first or second rounder.

Fumbles too much, runs upright which is a problem in the pros. Late second or third. Probable 5 or 6 back taken. Will make a lot of money

I'm thinking 3rd-4th round.
He's not an elite talent but he is solid in pass protection which can get him on the field faster in the NFL.

No. I wouldn't consider taking him before the 3rd.

. I wouldn't touch a Wisconsin running back anywhere near the 1st round. PJ Hill? Montee Ball (drafted in 2nd round)? Ron Dayne (drafted in 1st round)? James White (drafted in 4th round)? John Clay? Brian Calhoun (drafted in 3rd round)? What do they all have in common? They all DO suck, or DID suck, in the NFL. Busts galore.
Richardson's failure hasn't hurt Eddie Lacy. Ingram was a bust.
Ridley has fumblitis. Ware is a career IR. Hill still performed well.

RB's really are a dime a dozen.

I love the guy, and hope he has a long career. As a gm, I wouldn't pick him until the 4th or later. I fear he will have the same issues as Trent, in that he will have a hard time eluding tacklers, and his running style will not translate unless he gets on a team that can open up consistent running lanes.

Some pro scouts think he is overrated. And being that because of where he plays..

Pro-bowl running backs are bust bow?

Mike Shannhan killed the running back postion having any value. He would plug guys in and they would be 1,000 yard backs. Think Portis was his highest drafted guy and that was in the 2nd round

Yes, Ingram is a bust.
But this thread is not about him.

neither were taken in the first round

I doubt it. Running backs have a less-significant role in today's NFL offenses.

True. I'd argue they were both borderline 1st round talents though.
ETA: Lacy and Hill, I mean.

Ingram has been barely above a disaster, he had a decent year for the first time ever 4 years in his career and he ran for a whopping 900 some yards. Probably one of if not the worst RB to ever make the pro bowl (and only did it because others backed out).
Considering where Ingram was drafted, he is 100% a bust. IF he was drafted in the 4th or 5th round, it wouldn't be so bad.

Nah, 2nd round tops. Running backs are getting to be a dime a dozen nowadays. It all depends on blocking schemes and the pass threat in the NFL. Well, unless you are a complete monster like AP.
