The similarities between Mizzou's run in the Big12 and their SEC run are pretty remarkable. They'll be really good in the garbage division, get to the title game by playing only one really good team from the other division, and then get blown out in the title game.

it's an unfortunate pattern, but we are "working on it",, including bringing our share of delusional fans to the table!

You must be some sort of weird masochist to spend so much time watching, analyzing, and then posting about something you clearly hate. Strange.

This same question will be asked for decades. I wasn't happy with the SEC move because I knew Missouri would never be accepted or fit in. Missouri will always be seen as a misfit interloper. Wins don't matter because the other team lost, Mizzou didn't win. Losses matter because Mizzou shouldn't ever win a game and every loss validates the typical dumb SEC fan's opinion.

My general feeling is all SEC fans not Mizzou can go eff themselves. Go ride your ATVs to the nearest chicken store and choke to death you fat, useless rednecks.

Luv,

Igor

you wanted the TEN,, waaa waaa waaa. get over it!

"because Mizzou shouldn't ever win a game "

yes they make the mistake to underestimate Mizzou, we are in a great place, they think MU shouldn't be able to win or compete but we should own the state. The flagship U with two big metro areas to recruit and no real competition on the borders. With NU on the decline and no strong Big10-12 schools left around us, we should own all of the border recruiting areas. Pinkel has done a fair job but any coach could have recruited as well in the state, they make the same mistake to think he has over achieved when the truth is MU has under achieved and could have done even better with a coach who knows how to win the big games. No questions will be asked when we finally hire the guy that can win the conference, other than, "what took you so long"?

I am very happy to be in the SEC. The football is awesome. The venues awesome. The money and stability awesome. Some people have come around, others will in time.

Nobody is hating on Mizzou for winning the east. Hell, I'd rather Mizzou win it than Georgia or Florida. We're just saying the east has been down the last couple of years, because it has.

in 2013, the east finished with 2 top 5 teams. Historically, that is way above average since SEC went to two divisions. 2014 was down, but so was Mizzou.

Pinkel has another 5 or 10 good years left. After that Mizzou's facilities will be about avg in the SEC east. They have a medium sized state with 2 metropolitan areas all to themselves. They should stay competitive assuming they stay committed to football.

I don't expect domination. I do expect them to have very good years every once in a while.

Kansas City, St.Louis, Chicago and maybe a fourth will will be added to talent-rich Memphis, along with Bama, UT, and both Mississippi schools. I'd say the recruiting area ranks with just about anyone.

In reality the OP pretty much nailed it.

We did come into the SEC East at the right time as opposed to the 90's or early 2000's.

No we won't recruit like Florida, Georgia or Tennessee. Atleast not any time soon. We don't have the history of those programs and we don't have the relationships in our new recruiting ground.

Pinkel has proven he either has an eye for talent, is a great developer of talent or both.

Pinkel has played the hand he's been dealt at Missouri.

He knows he can't out-recruit the big boys on their home turf for the elite talent, so he identifies the players in those states that can become elite with time and coaching.

IMO, Missouri's best chance to win the SEC will come with they day they have an elite level quarterback.

As a football program we have got to get our recruiting up.
Pinkel has proven he can take mid level high school talent and compete at a high level.
Now we need the higher level talent to not just compete at a high level but WIN at a high level. I'm talking about SEC championships and NC's.

Most importantly we need to improve in recruiting now so that when Pinkel does decide to retire we can continue competing for SEC championships.

I think it would be a safe bet to assume that our next coach will not be able to continue winning at a high level without more talent.

Bill Snyder at KSU is the model for what we don't want to become. While Snyder is coaching they are a good program. When he left they did't have the talent for the next coach to win.

not sure what the need is to dis Snyder, after all he is a Missourian, and he's done next to the impossible making a 3rd rate program relevant, at least in it's conference. He is a great gameday coach, and would be an improvement over Pinkel in that regard.

The idea that nobody can recruit to Mizzou is somewhat ludicrous, just because Pinkel flags on the Montee Balls, Zeke Elliots,,, Odofiles and Hentges doens't mean everyone would. There have been 4 star and even a #1 national recruit on the last 2 Mizzou teams, it's not the big magic show some seem to think it is.

Peterson at Boise St and Petersensun, at TCU beat some very good teams with pretty much 2 and 3 stars only, so yes, other coaches could win with these players. It might be a "safe bet" the next guy wouldn't win if Alden were doing the hiring, but fortunately that won't be the case.
