Oh well. He will likely go to ND or Stanford. Kid wants to go to an academic prestigious school. I hope we can sell him on our academics like we did Hand though.

Remember this situation is fluid (I know, I know) but the latest I"m hearing today is that Ridley might indeed still enroll early and that Georgia is the leader for his signature. This has went back and forth over the last week or so and I don't think you can rule Alabama out completely because there are some close to Cavin in Bama's corner but UGA is a legit threat per a few trusted sources.
That's from BOL on Ridley

So he's never visited UGA, but will EE there sight unseen? Sounds fishy to me.

In the Cavin Ridley case it seems like having his brother just one class ahead of him is actually hurting us. Strange situation, but best of luck to Cavin for chasing his own dream...

This Ridley thing has bad ending written all over it. It seems the kid didn't think all this EE thing out very well.
Hope he lands on his feet cause he seems to have the talent.

According to Tim Watts:
No surprise being that Kirby hasn't named a DC yet, I assumed it would be someone on staff, but I rather him go than Tosh, Pruitt can coach the DB's also
quote:
We've been digging on Mel Tucker for the last few days and since BamaFreak mentioned it in a post below I thought I would catch you up on what we have so far.
After speaking to several people connected in the college coaching world the consensus is Tucker will be leaving for UGA as DC. Nobody states this for fact and ultimately this could turn out not to be true but there is the educated guess based on 1-the fact there isn't even a candidate being mentioned for the UGA DC job which is unheard of 2-there wouldn't be a reason for Smart to wait in naming his new DC except for the season of the coach he is going to hire to end and out of respect. If its from the college ranks that leaves Bama and Clemson.
This morning sources at UGA and UA agree that is quite possible that it could be Tucker. Again nobody says its a done deal but there is a certain confidence that it is Tucker because he is a good fit for Smart as far as his experience and working relationship. Tucker did a great job at Alabama

Yep he has done a good job with DBs but from posted reports Tucker doesn't like recruiting.

Sucks to lose him but too many good coaches on one team can lead to the ones with lesser jobs leaving for promotions. Pruitt can coach secondary so we will be fine. Jackson, Harrison, Humphrey, Fitzpatrick, Sheffield, and maybe Brown.

We gotta do whatever it takes to keep Tosh. I love his coaching style and his recruiting.

I'm okay with that. I think Pruitt can build on it and make them even better.

I agree I like Tucker but not someone if they leave we have recruits look elsewhere. I do like the fact that we brought in someone that was actually a position coach but there are many more that can do that. I do not see him being a big hire for UGA but time will tell for them.
In regards to Tosh I think once Kiffin gets a HC job in the next year or two he will follow him and probably be his DC. He is a great recruiter and brings a lot of energy to the team.

If tucker leaves and pruitt takes the secondary (not sure I'm in love with the dc also being the secondary coach, didn't work out great last time kirby did it), who are the likely candidates to take over the inside linebackers. That passion is vital in our 3/4

Tosh will probably coach both ILB and OLB while OLB get some work with Bo Davis
Posted on 1/5/16 at 3:39 pm to South Alabama Tide
I'd rather pass over Tosh and hire an actual LB coach. Doubt they leave a vacancy on the staff if a spot is there.
Lupoi is a former lineman turned DL coach turned OLB coach. The passrush aspect is the same, but it goes apples to oranges when you go 34 OLBs to 34 ILBs.

I agree I want tosh to stay where he is. He is doing an excellent job as the OLB coach.

Wonder if Sal Sunseri wants to get back in the college game?
