Has there been a recruit who flipped on us on NSD and went on to have a great career? I am not counting EE at OSU because I never thought we were going to get him. Not enough carries for him. OSU was the place for him to go.

Off the top of my head I do not remember any.

There has to be a few.

I can't remember the full story, but back in the 90s, don't remember if it was Stulls or Smiths tenure. We faxed a LOI to someone and it had another person's name on it.

Don't remember the kid, but it was a commong name, like Mike Smith.

Whoever it was, I think went to Utah instead and had a good career there.

I've noticed that not only are we getting better athletes, the vibe is much more positive. Mizzou is slowly becoming a destination school. The Beckner exposure will help as we have 2, 5 star DE in KS and Ill for 2016.

The cool thing is we just fought off, Auburn, FSU, OSU, Nubs for Beckner and Hall. Ofodile and the Davis twins had weird shite going on in the background, so our only straight up loss was Hentges to Bama, and that came down to the next to last week and there is no shame in losing to Bama.

All this while being short a coach which means being short 1 recruiter. Switching DC's and the threat of Kul leaving.

Congratulations to the staff, you did a hell of a job.

Damn I'm excited about this class. The staff seemed to not just get a couple of big names, but they did a great job of filling in places of need. About the only thing I would have liked to have seen that we didn't get would be a stud JUCO WR.

Sucks to lose Martin, but he's a JUCO guy anyway so it doesn't change too much

Yeah, I wanted Martin bad but if we had to lose one, wide receiver hurts the least.

Basically we flipped one (Nate Howard) and had one flipped with Martin.

With this team and this class I'll that that trade all day long.

Martin was 1/2 a flip because he wasn't going to be at Mizzou next year anyways.

Loving this class. Mix with the up and comming kids from previous classes and it really makes a third trip to Atlanta more likely. Third time may be the charm.

I think besidesbthe obvious signing of Beckner jr., i think Justin Smith probably is my favorite recruit. His upside potential is awesome. Pairing him with Brown, we should be in good shape on recieving. Love big body wideouts blocking too.

Howell is probably my favorite. Can be an immediate starter and has All American potential.

Now we just need Beckner to qualify. He apparently still has work to do on his ACT score to become eligible, he needs 1-2 points from what I've read. It can be done, I went up 2 points from the first to the second time I took it, he's got 3 more shots at it.

I say Smith is my favorite, thinking of that height and that potential.

Then I say no, Agbamisere is my favorite with all that raw talent.

But no, then I love the way Hall goes head hunting.

But then I say the 2 JUCO OT's may make the most contribution immediately.

Then I remember, I forgot all about the RB's, Strong, Abbington, Doherty and Williams.

Then the obvious besides Beckner smacks me in the fact and I say Lock is the obvious answer.

They got so much help at so many different positions. Just love it.

I've only followed recruiting for 3 years or so. I have a question for those that have followed for a few years.

Who was ranked higher and looked better coming straight out of HS, Terry Beckner Jr or Sheldon Richardson? I remember signing day with Sheldon coming out of JUCO but I don't remember what he looked like out of HS, just that he was highly rated.

They are different types of players but probably similar. Richardson was known as more of an athlete, playing RB and returning kicks. Probably faster too. He would slide by blockers to get in the backfield.

Beckner is obviously bigger and still a freakish athlete but he's more of a gap plugger who can shed blocks. If he all of the services continued to look at him as only a DE, he probably would have been a consensus #1 player in the nation. But when you take his skill set and start looking at him as a DT, he doesn't stand out quite as much, as in only a top 5 or 10 player in the nation.

Some of you football gurus correct this fan where I'm wrong.

ETA - Also 2 completely different types of players. Big Shel can talk more smack than The Rock. For whatever reason, Beckner reminds me more of the quiet, silent type kind of like the Michael Oher character in Blindside.

I wish I could remember the Danny Heitert quote of a couple weeks ago on Beckner (who sees him as a dominant DT). Something like he fractures bones with his hand punch and placement. He sees him as a can't miss.

I could try to dig it up.

Maybe it's Coach Kul's eye for detail that makes him soo good. Supposedly, he picked out during the announcement that TBJ's grandmother had a gold shirt on underneath.

Here's the video and that's a helluva snag by Coach Kul.
