The CNN link is not really about an NCAA investigation.
quote:

Two former athletes who took so-called paper classes at the University of North Carolina have filed a lawsuit against the school and the NCAA, claiming they represent hundreds of thousands of college athletes across the nation who are promised an education but don't get one.

quote:

Citing instances of alleged academic fraud at schools across the country, Hausfeld wrote that the "debacle, at one of the nation's finest public universities, could not have come as a surprise to the NCAA. It had ample warning, including empirical evidence from numerous academic experts, that many college athletes were not receiving a meaningful education, including -- disproportionally -- African-American college athletes in revenue-producing sports."

Wait a second. Is this about the NCAA and the 20 schools, or about a lawsuit from a UNC player citing alleged stuff? I'm confused.

They're not suing any of these Universities. It's 2 students suing UNC. Just because they cite other cases doesn't mean they are going after other Universities.

Exactly...They are citing other cases of confirmed & alleged academic fraud to support their case. In UGA's case it's citing the recent censure & suspension of our swimming coach as one example...

Title is confusing. The link OP showed is to a cnn article about a lawsuit against UNC and NCAA. Same guy who did OBannon suit I think.

It is about paying players.

Exactly... Cockinyourrear has a hard on for anything UGA related, he's the one who keeps up with the stickied "UGA players leaving/suspended" thread on the cock board, he hates all things UGA...

I guess he's pissed now at AU too since y'all got CWM...

I think you should change the title to reflect the link. It seems like this is a lawsuit to undercut the concept of scholarships to get paid.

The CNN link is not about an NCAA investigation, they are being sued.

I tried, but I ran out of spacing to add the word "named" in lawsuit. I did explain it in the OP update and the most recent post I made in the thread.

It is a lawsuit (suing UNC & the NCAA) from UNC players stating that they did not receive the education they signed on for - were told/made to take the paper classes.

They are citing Auburn, as well as others in their lawsuit, alleging academic cheating.

The only thing to see here is what they will bring out as their "evidence" on Georgia and Auburn. Probably nothing - just a bunch of lawyering.

Recently a story broke that 20 schools were being investigated by the NCAA for Academic Fraud. Then this article comes out form CNN shortly after talking about academic fraud and names many schools in relation to a UNC/NCAA lawsuit.

I think that the NCAA is going to have to review the claims about the incidents named at the other schools as it pertains to this lawsuit, and that's possibly where the originally story came from.

I think he came back and said Will was never even offered the job after he inked with Auburn.

You're taking two completely different stories and merging them together.

I agree

But I wonder what cases of "alleged academic cheating" they are talking about:

quote:

The lawsuit cites cases of alleged academic cheating at Syracuse, Berkeley, Michigan State University, University of Georgia, Auburn University, Florida State University, the University of Michigan and several other schools from Texas to Ohio, Kentucky to New Mexico.
