. It's sucked since 1 AD for 1990 years, got kinda decent and relevant. then, bam. back to suckfest.
I honestly believe that Creed did more to destroy Christian Rock than any other influence. The lead singer of that band really poisoned the well with his shitty off-stage behavior while trying to put forth a Christian image. It made the whole movement look as hypocritical as Jimmy Swaggart.
CSB: my church had a Christian Rock band that would play for the saturday night mass, but because I lived in St. Amant, they were really a Swamp Pop group (full horn section and everything). It was actually kinda cool. You haven't lived until you heard a "Alleluia" that you could two-step to

Country. 50s and nothing else comes close
Classical....1790s

So I was thinking about this driving tonight and needtobreathe came on alt nation. While creed and Amy grant are dirtbags, they opened the door for some real legit crossover bands (depending on how you feel about them)
Needtobreathe, lifehouse, switchfoot, Sufjan Stevens, mat Kearney, Flyleaf, and David Crowder Band all met some mainstream success after that.

This. There is no other answer. Best most well rounded for both mainstream music and underground music. All genres

Skillet and Red has given Christian music a bit of a foothold in their respective genres. Switchfoot has been good. A numbers of others that you listed as well.
Almost forgot to comment on Flyleaf. Anyone listen to them since Lacey moved on? I enjoyed their stuff with Lacey, but I haven't listened to them since the change.

Both excellent. Jesus Freak in my opinion is one of the greatest albums of all time in any genre. People can knock it for being Christian, but it was brilliant top to finish and stands up today.
