I didn't want to start this on the gaming board and get completely skewered, figured I'd get more help from the Hog nation.
So, I got an Xbox One for Christmas as a surprise, but haven't opened it yet, been super busy and can't decide if I want to keep it or trade for a PS4.
Any info to sway me one way or the other would be greatly appreciated.

XBone 4 lyfe. Buy Master Chief Collection and relive your childhood. Or at least my childhood.

PC master race.
But out of the two, XBOX One is the way to go. Sony's online security is garbage.

We would have to initially pay an extra like $80 just to switch, and be out 2 extra downloadable Assasains Creed games that came w the xbox also

Stick with the X Box, the controller is better. Playstation controllers are made for tiny handed Japanese people.

Xbox One owner here.
If you're a Gears of War or Halo fan, it's obvious to stick with the One. However, if you're just going to use it for Netflix, Amazon Prime, WatchESPN etc. get the cheapest one and keep the cash.

I'll be using it for that as well as gaming. I had a PS3 and eventually sold it before the 4 came out b/c I quit playing for awhile after wasting my life away playing Skyrim for like 2 months straight

Which do most of your friends have? I just prefer the Xbox Live experience over the PS4. However, the gap is certainly much tighter this generation than the Xbox 360 verses PS3.
The Snap feature (able to show two things at once) is very handy on the One. You can literally watch football game in top right corner while gaming. Therefore, these small features makes a difference to me but the average person will not nor should not care.

More of my friends have Xbox which is also appealing

I route my DirecTV through mine and love being able to play and watch a game simultaneously.

Reading the online reviews it seemed they were biased towards PS4, but probably just the site.
Think I'm gonna stick with the xbox after this discussion

PS4 is currently winning the war for games, but the major titles are great and very well done on the Xbox One. The Xbox one also has the perks of being able to run your TV and TV Provider via voice commands. The Live service is more reliable than PSN. XB1 has a greater wireless capability as it can use 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz.
That said PS4 does have a slight graphics advantage because XB1 defaults to a lower resolution to run the processes faster.
I am a proud XB1 user though regardless of tiny graphical differences

Get the one that most of your friends play on
Other things of note:
Xbone is the better all around entertainment console
Playstation is the better pure gaming machine
The playstation controller has improved a lot since ps2/ps3
Xbone is the way to go if you're all about halo and gears of war
Playstation will probably have a lot of exclusives next year you'll want to play.
Discloser- I have a ps4 and love it. But I'll be getting an xbone in the next 6 months. I also have a wii u and a gaming pc
