My favorite one is the hyperbole game.

Smart move for him really
More money, longer contract, lower expectations
I mean who wouldn't take a higher paying job where mediocrity at their position would not only be tolerated but celebrated? Just think about it, with A&Ms lack of talent on defense and their inability to field even a mediocre defensive squad over the past few years, how much will Chavis really need to do to be considered a god over there? Top 60 defense? Sign him up!

This is the obvious answer. Chavis is attracted to narcissistic people.

he probably just didn't like Miles or the AD at LSU. You guys act like he supposed to stay in a job even if he doesn't like his boss, just because it is LSU.

What makes you think Alleva failed to get that?
They were obviously inviting him to walk. Miles and Alleva don't even speak and saw eye to eye on this one.
Miles is loyal to a fault. Chief should never have called that bowl game.

The way it played out over two weeks shows pretty clearly that Chavis expected LSU to match the offer. When he found himself standing there with his dick in his hand he realized he had to make the most of it. His classless comments show that he's fully aware that he lamded in a sad little program with little history and less future.

LSU did not lose Chavis. If LSU really wanted him, a mere $400K or so would not have been a deal breaker. CLM's staff has consistently been one of the highest paid staffs in the SEC & in the country. There has been several posts in other threads that an issue has/had been simmering, in house, the past 2 + yrs over how much many long hrs some members of the coaching staff has been putting in recruiting, whereas a few others were just mailing it in in comparison. Chief has never been a recruiter & detested having to go on the road. So he didn't. FWIW.

Its really not Dale's fault. Its sao's absentee father act that has led us to this. They've grown up with the legend but instead of their father's wit and charm they were just left with an old yellowish photo and a jar of rancid bacon fat.

quote:The way the NCAA recruiting rules are set up, you can't have all your coaches out on the road recruiting at any one time (essentially, two have to remain on campus at all times). You can rotate who is out on the road if you think it's important that everyone gets out there, but it's often more efficient to just keep your coordinators on campus--there are certain windows where you want your guys out on the road, so if you send coordinators out in a rotation with the rest, that means you're going to take other guys off the road just for the sake of sharing the load.

He got paid $1.7 million.
We wouldn't match.
He gone.

Re coordinators recruiting on the road, LSU's OC Cameron has been traveling all over the country to recruit & I doubt it has anything to do with any "windows" or 'rotations". Chief was here for 6 yrs & as the story goes, almost literally never went on the road recruiting. When it's your fellow coaches who are complaining & pointing fingers, this goes way beyond any rotations. Not saying that this is why LSU did not want to belly up & pay him the additional $400K, but it was most assuredly a factor with some of his fellow coaches.

Elaborate. I would like to hear your outsider perceptions on why you think LSU is classless? Specific examples would be helpful. Thanks
