Lets say you had a team full of 0, 2, and 3 stars . Would Saban be your first choice to get that team 10 or more wins

Hard to say. Hell, he never has those types of players.

2008 Alabama says yes. I would also put Malzahn up there as well as Gary Pinkel.

You just described Mississippi State. I'm going with Merlins.

I wouldn't say he is the best, but he does a hell of a job with the best talent. Other coaches do a great job of getting their players to put it out on the field.

Such a subjective question.

He appears to be getting about what should. Even with the most talent you aren't going to win them all.

There's no way to know. I have my doubts.

Saban wins his titles in February.

I think you have to go with Dantonio and Pinkel here. Bert is up there due to how he develops underrated OL alone.

I see the hook, but Saban is very good at getting the most out of any player. The process is all about being responsible for your one job on the field and tuning out everything else.

Would love to see it. Lil Nicky can recruit like no other, but I don't think he's that good of a coach in developing talent. There's no way to know when Bama's roster is filled with 4 and 5 stars. It would be interesting to have him coach at Vandy for a few years and see what would happen. My #1 pick would be Jerry Kill. He's done an amazing job his whole career of coaching up 2 & 3 star talent.

Yeah I think he's really good with that and i'll say Gary Pinkel high up there up too, overall it's some really good coaches in this league.

when saban does not have the best talent on the field, he loses with regularity. he lost regularly at Michigan state, he lost at the beginning of the lsu gig, he lost in the nfl, he broke even his first year at bama. he lost a game this season even when he had more overall talent, which is a compliment to the coach who kicked his arse with less talent.

Judging by Nick Saban's overall head coaching record, Hes the best at getting the best out his best players. It takes a different mindset to get the best out of players that are 3 star and below.

I think he probably would be great with bad talent. There comes a point where you can only get so much production out of college kids no matter how talented they are. You only have so much time to work with them, and egos come into play. A lot of people thought Carroll didn't get the most out of his players at USC. Now, he is one of the best coaches in the NFL.

Just look back at his Michigan State days. He wasn't the beast that he is now
