Anyone have any recommendations for bbq bars or sites besides Graceland?

I dunno about top bbq. You might want to expand your horizons and ask Ole Miss fans. But be prepared to be sent to a gay strip joint.
Beale Street is most likely where the missus and I will spend most of our time, because she's a total sap for live music and there's plenty of it there.
The Memphis Zoo is worth the trip if you have the time.
The Flying Saucer downtown has every beer known to humanity. I had the worst beer ever made and loved it for its awfulness: Hecht Schlenferla Rauchbier. Smoked bacon flavor and beer sound like a good combo? Damn right it isn't. But now I've done it, and don't have to do it again.

I won't be able to make it this year but if you want a good BBQ place in Memphis then you need to avoid Corky's. It's very overrated.

Haha thanks. Yeah we'll be hitting up Beale as well, guess my gf has been there before once.

I haven't ate at these places but a quick search of the best bbq in Memphis and these three places keep coming up. They are the Cozy Corner, Charlie Vergos' Rendevous and supposedly the best of the bunch Central BBQ.

Yep. Looking forward to it. Haven't grabbed tix yet, but they're going for under $35 each on Stubhub and I hear we're not selling our allotment well. Should be a buyer's market.
Should also be some buzz. We'll have new recruits signed after this week and a new DC by then.

Definitely a lot of tickets available but hopefully lots of ags make it out.
Also thanks for the suggestions Mars, we want to try to hit up 2-3 restaurants while we're here to I'll look into those

Checked with our oldest, who lived in Southaven for 3 or 4 years and so knows the place. Her and husband agree (which is rare): Central BBQ.

You're welcome. I wish I could make it this year but I have the parents coming in for Christmas this year.

Rendezvous is very good, but everyone on tRant says its too touristy. It was packed with ag's when we went before last ole miss game in oxford. In '12 we just drove in for the game, so my suggestions are limited. Supposedly the Germantown Commissary is the place to eat.

Enjoy the game, and welcome to the board!
Let us know how the experience was, good or bad! Wish I could go.

By the way, I know a lot of people on the SECR seem to bash the venue but I went back in 2006 (when we beat a Kevin Kolb led Houston team) but I thought it was a nice little 60,000 seat stadium. It wasn't rundown, enough space between the seats, didn't care much for the Houston fans though.
I'd make the BBQ and beer rounds for sure. Also an opportunity to check out the MS River.

Those of you going if you don't visit here you aren't an American.

Honestly A&M doesn't deserve a better bowl. I'm looking forward to it and am very glad it's driving distance.
Well... that not so much. I live about a mile away from it. Cross over it every time I need booze late at night. That said, there IS a nice model of the entire river from Minnesota to Louisiana down by the river if anybody is into that sort of thing.

Thanks, Tbird. Appreciate it. Have a couple young sons who don't know it, but are getting it for a Christmas present. They're gonna be pumped.

Have you seen the rivers SC has? They're fun because their shallow, good places to hang out during the summer, good for kayaking or chilling on all the boulders. But when you compare them to the MS they hardly look like rivers at all.

Well... I suspect you can see through more than an inch of water, so there's that :-)
The Mississippi is indeed impressive. I had a nice photo album of the 2011 flood but I'll be damned if I can remember what site I used. Oh well. They say memory of image upload sites is the first thing to go.
