If Auburn Fans Are So Concerned With UAB and Birmingham....

Why were they insistent in moving the Iron Bowl out of neutral site Birmingham and onto their campus. Bama continued to play games in Birmingham into the early 2000's. Mybe if they hadn't killed a neutral site Iron Bowl to begin with, the city would have eventually committed to replacing Legion Field, UAB would have a stadium to play in and maybe garnered more support.

Ever been to Legion Field?

BTW, Bama was still playing a game or two a year there until the highly intelligent City Council shite on Bama.

Yes...many times....here is a clue, the condition of Legion Field wasn't the issue.

How so? Not picking a fight, just don't remember there being an issue with the City Council. If I remember correctly, didn't UA begin stadium upgrades to BDS in the late 80's, upgrades that included adding more seats?

What does that matter? We played USF when Mike Shula was there. Well into the 2000's.
And we had games scheduled in 2005 and 2008, but they were canceled when no repairs were made to the stadium (upper deck).

And why did y'all play there? Because you were under contract to the City of B'ham to play a certain number of games in Legion Field.

And Alabama got out of the contract, rightfully so, because of the horrible condition of LF. If memory serves me, the City had let Legion Field decline during a time they were trying to get a bond issue passed to build a domed stadium. The City has some blame, but I think the decision to move the majority/all of UA home games to UA was a financial one.

I believe the upper deck was declared structurally unsound.

Because Aubies are the only ones starting these shitty threads.

Only a dumbass or someone that has never been to Legion Field would make that comment. Legion Field was a dump in the late 70s and early 80s, they had to spend a $1M every year, just to meet the standards of a dump.

Yes it was and removed. But Bama had reduced the number of games played in Legion Field down to like one a season prior to that, and if memory serves, it was usually a scrub game.
Alabama and Auburn both realized the financial windfall of having games on campus, which had a hand in the death of Legion Field.

you idiots should have played your "neutral sight" game in Ga at the dome.

I would have liked to seen what we would've done had improvements been made to Legion. Going down to 1 game probably had to do with that.
I loved going to games as a kid in Legion. Not sure my parents liked it. We had seats down low so I liked them better than BDS.

auburn had to get the iron bowl to auburn every two years so they could sell tickets. They still have a difficult time selling out. They need BAMA coming to auburn for the money.

Honestly, I think the only thing that would have "saved" LF would have been to tear it down and build a new one, preferably domed.

It's hard to take someone calling others "idiots" when they don't know the difference between "sight" and "site".

Wrong.... We sold out this year without Alabama or UGA on the schedule.
The IB was changed to home and home PRIOR to us moving our home game to our home.
We do not need Bama for money
Bammer babble.
