This is terrible, UAB Blazers football is the cornerstone of collegiate athletics, how can they be doing this? Might as well disband the NFL while they're at it.

Is their program hemorrhaging money or something? It seems like all these schools are trying to get into FBS to try to get a taste of the money that's involved or is this the Bammers trying to not lose some athletics funding for the real Alabama?

This is bullshite. Bama BOT never wanted UAB to have a program, and now, they finally got their way.

I feel bad for the players and the fan of UAB football.

I understand the frustration and anger toward the BOT but read the first comment below the article. It wreaks of the entitlement that is the problem with the UAB fans.
"...when the fans are easily here and we have a passion for our team...University of Alabama board of trustees refusing to let UAB do anything with an on campus stadium and hinder recruiting efforts..."
A) The fans are not easily there. If they were, they could have gotten more than 15,000 to attend most of their games, and,
B) Expecting the BOT to build them a $75 million stadium when considering the above is a little more than just "refusing to let UAB do anything."

Terrible thing for Bama to do to this school

Chicken before the egg, etc... They had a good thing going for a while but UA would never allow them to build on said success.
Tennessee has held Memphis football down for decades but would never dream of trying to shut it down.... that's some cold blooded shite.

UAB never should have had a D1 program in the first place. Who cares?

Going to be interesting when people start talking about why this was shut down. There's a reason for the deep rooted hatred between UAB and UAT.
