I think it's a pretty good plan in theory. There are a couple holes in it that I see and question how they fill them.

1. How do you legitimately tell how long an illegal immigrant has been in the country?

2. What do you do with the ones who haven't been here 5 years?

3. If you haven't been here 5 years can you just wait until you have been here 5 years and then come register? Or does the time frame move with each passing year? Seems kinda meaningless otherwise.

It's certainly not the mass pardon that many super conservatives were betting the house on.

Everybody that has entered this country illegally has broken the law. They should be deported since they're criminals. Obama said criminals can't stay here.

Serious question: does any other country in the world deal with this shite in the way that we do? I know there are plenty of countries that are heavy handed, but I'm genuinely curious if there are other countries that pussy-foot with this shite and have similar problems as us?

I have no idea what Obama's plan is, and I sure as shite did not watch a speech. Reform needs to happen in some capacity. Many of the illegals do a hell of a lot more for our economy than our ignorant entitlement class that look down on their nose at them.

It is true that these people do work that the vast majority of Americans will not do. Many people are too good for manual labor. Also, how about the illegals in the military, should they be deported too?

Reagan, Bush 41 both took similar unilateral actions.

Obama has deported more than the last 3 or 4 administrations combined.

I think the Catholic Church needs to quit banning birth control in Mexico/Central America. They're just dumping their overpopulation on the U.S. Send all those orphans to the Vatican and let them work it out.

If they really wanted to solve this problem they would make it illegal to hire immigrants with something like minimum fines of 10,000 per hire and jail time for people employing more than 2. Then you would stop the problem at its source and the river would dry up. So many people want to talk about illegal immigrants meanwhile taking advantages of all the cheap services they get by hiring them or companies that employ them like hypocrites.

I don't know what he said in the speech, but it is way too hard to enter this country legally and it needs to change.

I did not vote for Obama, I do not think he's done an overly bad nor good job over the last 6 years. I am a conservative independent that votes primarily Republican....

But I think Obama gave a great speach, spoke some truth, and I agree with what he is doing

This! If you came to America illegally get the frick out! Then re-apply legally and we will welcome you.

Anyone that supports those that are breaking America's federal laws are clueless fools.
