Miles also had to do zero work as he inherited a Saban roster. Butch inherited a Dooley Roster.

Tennessee had the #9, #13, and #17 recruiting classes under Dooley.

So it isn't like he had a bare cupboard.

Also the East sucks, and sucked last year.

almost everyone drooled over Kiffin. The only detractors were the gray hairs still in love with Fulmer. He definitely sold his worth hard, and UT fans ate it up until he spawned everyone for USC. Take this from someone who, believe it or not, is a UT grad and had to listen to the Kiffin talk daily.

Different experiences, I suppose. I'm a double alum. Hell, the supposed 'riot' was no riot at all but quite comical and festive from the ground floor.

I don't doubt there were those more obsessed with Kiffin than Jones and even more hardcore about it. My point of contention is that Jones enjoys a far larger base of support than Kiffin ever did and is liked by far more people than Kiffin was in his time here.

Nice work. Coach Cal has 1.2 million followers.

Actually he has passed 1.3 Million - probably #1 in the entire USA

Add in Stoops and Mitchell and you are approaching 1.5 million followers or so,

When it comes to Twitter, hard to beat BBN.

Vol fans brag about the weirdest shite. Congrats, I guess. Your coach is a likable retard.

I was living in Knoxville at the time and went and parked my truck at gibbs just to watch. Pretty stupid

The rest of the SEC tends to seriously underestimate the brand footprint of UK. It's in the Top 5 of the conference and top 20 nationally (haven't looked in a while but it's way up there).

At any rate, it's quite amusing that the two 'hillbilly' states of the conference have such technologically adept fan bases. Kinda messes with those stereotypes.

How does he use that on the recruiting trail?

With Coach Cam it definitely isn't just Kentucky residents, he is a national fixture. Hell he is the coach to the dominican republic team he probably gets a few of their followers too.

#8 in the USA and #1 non football brand for Q3 2013-2014

#3 media deal in the USA behind Texas and Notre Dame @ 210 Million

With Alabama and Kentucky both moving away from IMG, it will be interesting to see if the rest of the conference follows suit. Collegiate Licensing was started in Alabama and Host Communications was started in Kentucky. Now that IMG College - the merger of these 2 companies - has moved to ACC country will the old SEC ties begin to die off?

Butch Jones Most Followed Coach On Twitter In any interview ive ever seen with him.. I'm of the opinion that he would lie or do anything to further recruiting... And hey sometimes you've got to do that in recruiting... But it doesn't mean i like or respect you.. Here's the ill jon video on the front page... So contrived and fake shite... 3rd down for what Also that whole signing day thing with the bricks February 2013... What is the point in that.. Or third down for what.. Just forced dumb shite.. Tennessee has a great history in football, a huge stadium, and huge fan base ... Other things to recruit on...

So, basically you just said, man he's doing all the things you have to do to rebuild a program. Can you believe it? So creepy and full of shite

Spend some time with coach, BBN was there before him, and will be there after he is gone.

Midnight Madness was big before Cal got there. Other schools have given up trying to match the madness. LINK

Don't sit there and pretend Billie Gillispie would have had 1.3 Million followers had twitter been around?

I don't think so. SEC teams are far too profitable to lose ties with and beyond that I'd cite Dish Network as an example. There's a reason Dish picked up the SEC Network so quickly which guaranteed others would follow suit despite the bluffing and hedging for a deal.

Charlie Ergen, born and raised in Oak Ridge and UT alum and former UT walk-on in basketball founded Dish. Dish is a major sponsor of UT athletics (just see the first few seconds here of a Veterans Day video - though seeing the old unis, footage, and hearing some of the history is really cool if you care to spend a few minutes Vol Veterans Day Tribute ). We do various features like this constantly and the production is always first class in part because of Dish.

So I think those ties with the new IMG company are very strong for many reasons. I realize IMG clouds the picture for the future but I just can't see them breaking ties, especially if the subsidiary that handles it maintains some autonomy and character from the Host days. It's also simply smarter business, imo, to add on as many as they can rather than suddenly drop conference ties.

Spend some time in The Mist.

If UK hired a beagle as it's next HC, it would not surprise me to find it had 500K followers within a week. Look at how many former players have 500K to 1M + followers. A kid just saying he is thinking about playing ball at UK can swing 25K to 50K followers almost overnight.
