The state has anti-discriminatory laws. They were broken. Why do you want to force your religion on others? You don't believe in gay marriage, that's fine, but is it any of your business what they do? They opened a business renting out their farm. They refused to rent it to them because they didn't share their religious beliefs. What if this was a Hindu wedding? Would the homophobes here be just as up in arms that the local gas station clerk wanted to get married in the eyes of Vishnu, Shiva, and Devi on this farm but they wouldn't let them? Isn't worshiping false idols just as bad, if not worse, than two chicks cutting paper all night? I remember that one being important enough to be engraved on stone.
You've got a point, but we don't know if they ever turned any of those away. We do know that if they did though, those people simply found another, more accepting place to hold their ceremony, rather than throw a hissy fit.

Gays marrying violates the owner's religious beliefs, the government should not be trying to force them to give up their freedom of religion solely so some gays don't have hurt feelings. This is massive overstep, IMO, and kowtowing to the gay agenda.
And at a time not too long ago, black and white marrying violated owner's religious beliefs. And I ask you, how did that violate people's freedom of religion then, and does two gays standing in front of a bunch of people, saying some words, and making out, violate people's freedom of religion now?
This is violating no ones freedom of religion. It isn't in the practice of Christianity to actively undermine other people's contrasting beliefs, and even if it was, US law wouldn't allow you to refuse business to them based on that.

So all those black people in the 60s that couldn't get a hotel room should have just not thrown a hissy fit and found a more accepting place down the road, huh?

I'm going to leave you to TeLeFaWx. He enjoys shredding weak arguments.
You didn't read the thread before jumping in with your preposterous assertions. Except for the socialism shite, all of your comments have been addressed.

Stop equating being black with the choice of a fricking wedding venue.

perhaps, perhaps not. the thing is that no matter the legislation that is passed, you can't remove people's beliefs. Racism has been "illegal" for coming on 50 years now and we still have Sterlings out there. We still have my family in West Texas that calls Obama a ni**er.
Again, hear my argument, racist sucks, people who treat gays differently suck. I think homosexuality is wrong, but would take those lovely ladies' money in a heartbeat and give my blessing on their union as 2 people in the world who have a different world view than my own and be done with it. But, they should have the right to refuse the business and be judged in the court of free market and public opinion and nothing more.
I just refuse to believe the idea of the state dictating to people that they cannot practice their personal beliefs in business is best for our society. It is a very slippery slope that I think some people are too eager to go down.

I refuse to do business with people who can't pay my fees, am I discriminating against poor people because I don't work for free?

What? I can't even figure out what you meant to say. Did you mean, "Stop equating refusing to let someone rent your farm for their wedding ceremony because you think your religion states that interracial marriages are against God's intent, with refusing to let someone rent your farn because you think that same sex marriages are against God's intent?"
If that's what you meant, then... No. Because one is discrimination based on race, one is discrimination based on sexuality, and neither violate the farm owners freedom of religion.
You are allowed to be racist in this country. You are allowed to think that the races shouldn't marry. You are even allowed to claim your Holy Book is the basis for your prejudices, not your own ignorances. You are not, however, allowed to racially discriminate in your business practices based on this. This does not violate the freedom of religion of said bigot.
You are also allowed to be a homophobe in this country. You are also allowed to think that the members of the same sex shouldn't marry. You are even allowed to claim your Holy Book is the basis for your prejudices, not your own ignorances. You are not, however, allowed to discriminate in your business practices based on this. This does not violate the freedom of religion of said bigot.

*in some states. Pretty sure you can discriminate based on sexuality here in Texas, probably some others.

Bringing back segregation wouldn't help our society either.

Well the poor aren't a protected class, but if they aren't paying fees they are in a breach of contract so your counterargument is stupid as frick.

How do you feel about this issue Tbird? Do you think businesses should be able to deny service to whomever they please?

Here's what you said:
When you say "personal beliefs" are you talking about religious beliefs? Also, does your scenario only involve discriminating against gay people?

You must just be pretending not to understand the issue at this point.

I understand the issue just fine, it's called being allowed to do whatever you want with your own private property.
I'm gonna come to your house and take a poop on your rug, and if you try to stop me from pooping on your rug, I'll sue you for my mental anguish.
