I was comparing BHM to ATL, I mainly was pointing out the issues with Atlanta.
Atlanta has issues. I'm a native, and I don't think I'll stay forever. Just too many things that frustrate me. But it's a major US city that people flock to for a reason.

I don't see why they aren't teaming up with the city on the dome project. If UAB committed to anchor the dome it would have been built years ago it seems.
Unless it is on campus or extremely close to campus then the school will have the same attendance problem that is has now. Also a $500million dollar dome could probably be more than what UAB needs.

Growth of population over a 3 year period.......
Atlanta is still growing at a steady clip. That is the point.
So your answer is: growth defines the quality of a city. I guess Las Vegas is the best city in America the last 10 years.

Puppets - per the US Census Bureau Atlanta is the 6th fastest growing metro area in American from 2012 to 2013.
So........yea.

Yep, born here, lived here until 10, moved away and have been back 6 years since college. Lived in Vinings, Decatur and soon Brookhaven (would be closer but kids make that a bit tougher), and I won't be leaving anytime soon. Love it, and love the direction it is heading (minus the Cobb Braves situation).

UAB doesn't have the financial support from boosters to pull it off.
That is one of the great thing that comes from having an athletic foundation.

I brought it up as part of the problem with Atlanta. But thanks for making my arguement.

Yea, I guess we will have to live with more growth and more urban density inside the perimeter. Guessing that is a problem places like Detroit, Cleveland and Birmingham would love to have.
If people don't like being in an urban, dense city, then they can move to a non-city.

My guess is you are getting some of the problems from Detrioit and Cleveland. Watch what you ask for.

A $70 million brand new stadium on a constrained budget for a fanbase that averages 15k per game? Yes, total no-brainer

They have one in Decatur. Surprisingly they aren't that good at softball.

Well Tulane just built a new stadium and they went from around a 1000ppl at a game to averaging around 25k and their team this year is horrible. Vandy could probably hang 50 on them they are that bad.

But Tulane built it. With their money.
If UAB wants to do that they are more than welcome to.
