This is the first year of the playoff - the Committee wants diveristy and national coverage/attention so only one SEC team makes it into the final four regardless of what the records and strength of schedules look like. We all wanted a playoff and may as well learn to like it.

The playoff should be conference champions only.
The committee said they were going to heavily weigh their decisions on conference champions, but there are only 4 spots and 5 conferences. One conference is going to be butt hurt.
I think only the Sec gets a 2 loss champ in the final 4, unless multiple conferences have 2 loss champions.

Unfair to Notre Dame.

I absolutley think that only 1 SEC team is getting in , unless chaos unsues.
I think any non con champion , will have to have at least a better record than a P5 Conf champ. Ie. If Oregon is sitting at 12-1 s Pac12 champ , Bama at 11-1 non champ is not getting the spot. Yo can't even debate that s viable.
If everything plays out to form I think it looks like this
FSU
SEC Champ
ND
Pac12/Big12/B10 champ with 1 loss Highest rank.
Odds are it comes down to Mich State/ Oregon (they both get in if ND loses)

All your system does is reward teams for playing in weak conferences and punish teams for playing in tough conferences.
This.
The committee's ONLY job should be finding the 4 best teams based on watching games and analyzing relevant data.
Anything else is ridiculous.

I do not care who the SEC Champ is. They should go and that should be it. Other teams have had their chance.
It's a fundamental economic/behavioral fact that, over the long run, that will incentivize schools to seek the path of least resistance.
In the short term, that means shitty OOC scheduling. Long term that could affect alignment. When it comes down to it, the conferences are not equal in any way, football-caliber wise. They are grouped by geographical convenience, which ultimately is arbitrary in relation to football quality. Any purist who is interested in crowning the champion of college football should know that this line of thinking is ridiculous.

If they go to 8 might as well go to 16 and include P5 CCGs in that 16. That's 10 right there if you mandate the B12 have a CCG.
Cancel all the other 5 CCGs, but have a play in game against the 2 best of the rest (ga southern/ Marshall). Also have 2 at large games.
Winners are seeded 1-8 by committee and play on Campus 2nd weekendin December to advance to semifinals as they are.

Still mad about 2011 I see....
If Alabama claims 1941 then LSU has every right to claim 2011.

you are aware that the Big12 is not allowed to have a championship right? it's isn't that they are choosing not to.

They are choosing not to by not adding two more teams.

Jesus fricking christ, I'm so sick of seeing this.
How do you fricking KNOW who the best teams are?

Not no but hell no. Nobody gets a free pass just because some team won some weak arse conference championship.

I would agree with you ONLY if we dropped back down to 10 team conferences and we played everyone.

who the hell are we supposed to add? BYU and Rice? SMU? bring on the talk of Power4, no thanks.

The SEC west is 32-1 vs teams outside their division. That would be my top argument and facts for your question.
Posted on 10/28/14 at 10:52 am to BearBait09
That's why I said mandate that they do , either waive the 12 team requirement or make them expand , I'm sure they would want their top 2 to be in the 16

SEC is 7-1
everyone besides
WVA
KST
SCARx2
Wisconsin
Kentuckyx2
Georgia
unworthy of mention. Still good stat, but lets not be gaudy.
