There is no ranking tiebreaker now that the BCS is gone. It would go to record OF other division teams played.
If 2 are tied with that, goes back to head-to-head.
If all 3 are tied after that, it's a coin flip

quote:Damn...that's too close to call. Bama might get the most actually. Vandy won't win more than 1 SEC game.
Bama plays UT and UF
Ole Miss plays Vandy and UT
MSU plays UK and Vandy

What happens is that they look at the combined records of our cross divisional opponents:
Alabama - Florida / Tennessee
Ole Miss - Tennessee / Vandy
MSU - Kentucky / Vandy
So, basically which two teams has the better cross divisional foes move up, the #3 team drops, and then you have the those two teams measure (in this case, head to head)
Right now, assuming not much changes, that would put Alabama and Mississippi State as the top two, and in your scenario Alabama goes by virtue of winning the head to head.

The UT-UK game could actually decide the SEC West under one scenario. With UT being able to keep Bama out by losing.
Ponder that one for a few moments.

So to get my head straight, One of the two following scenarios need to happen for Bama to get in (not that they deserve it )
1) Ole Miss loses twice and Bama wins out.
2) OP scenario happens and Tannessee/Vandy record is worse than Kentucky/Vandy.
Did I get it right?

bama would easily surpass OM, as UF > VU
UK has already lost to UF... if they finish 6-2, UF & UT would have to combind for less than 6 wins... both will beat Vandy and UF has already beaten UK -- there's 3.

Not sure if you're directing that at me or not...
Here's the rule on three-way ties:
quote:
(Note: If one of the procedures results in one team being eliminated and two remaining, the two-team tiebreaker procedure as stated in No. 1 above will be used):
My interpretation of that is that if you're #3, then it goes back to the top 2. That's how the old BCS rule was written - it wasn't the top team in the BCS polls, it was the top 2 teams (and then basically who won the head to head)
Not that it matters - I doubt this will ever happen.

Your answer looks like the most plausible answer if the OP's scenario plays out.

Well, #1 would make it easy. Alabama and MSU are tied, and Alabama goes due to winning the head to head.
#2 is how I interpret it, yes. We would not only hope we have a good SEC East set of teams, but hope that MSU's is better than Ole Miss's. (Right now, that actually looks like the case - UK is playing decently).

Not if Bama wins out.

Of course the same hypothetical scenario could be played out with Auburn, State, and Ole Miss, but frick them.

I will help.
In this scenario, it goes to the final tie breaker.
The East Opponents are:
1. Alabama - Florida and Tennessee
2. Miss St. - Kentucky and Vanderbilt
3. Ole Miss - Tennessee and Vanderbilt
Let's start with the obvious... Vandy is going 0-8 in the conference. That's easy... so:
1. UA - UF and UT
2. MSU - Kentucky and 0-8
3. OM - UT and 0-8
Florida's (2-2 SEC)Remaining Conference Schedule: Mizz, UGA, @ Vandy, S. Car
Kentucky's (2-1 SEC) Remaining Conference Schedule: @LSU, Miss St., @ Miz, Georgia, @ UT
UT's (0-2 SEC) Remaining Conference Schedule: @ Ole Miss, Alabama, @S.Car, UK, Miz, @Vandy
UF will be favored vs. Mizz, Vandy and S. Carolina. Barring upset they finish with 5-3 Conference Record.
UK will be favored vs. Mizz and UT, barring upset they will be 4-4.
UT will be favored over Vandy, barring upset they will be 1-7.
That Means:
Bama's SEC Opp: 6-10
MState's SEC Opp: 4-12
Ole Miss's SEC Opp: 1-15
State needs UF to fade or UK to beat LSU or Georgia.
In this scenario, it goes to the final tie breaker.
