Was a great old school hit. Not so much a new school one

He targeted a defenseless receiver. Which is probably what he was taught when he started playing football.

Correct. CEJ was on the locker room show after the game and he said that he doesn't know how you are supposed to teach a kid to play as a safety if that type of a hit gets you thrown out of the game.

Also, from what Paul Ellen and Gabe Gross were saying on the postgame, that although the NCAA rule will allow Ruffin back next week, the play will be reviewed by the league office in B'ham and they could suspend him for part, or even all, of the MSU game as well.

WTF is "targeting" anyway? Every tackle that is made in a game the ball carrier was targeted. That's what the defense does.

Ruffin led with his shoulder and despite the receiver almost having his knees on the ground he still didn't hit him in the head and for that he gets kicked out of the game?

It's ridiculous and like I said, it's not fair to these kids playing defense.
