Thoughts on the SEC West

MSU: I think they have a good quarterback and great linemen on both sides of the ball.
Bama: Although Cooper is a great WR, IMO the most dominant aspect of their team is the defensive line
LSU: they are young, but have playmakers and if they switch to Harris at QB I think they could be better in November
Ole Miss: To me, they have the best defensive backs in the SEC
Arkansas: Dominant running game with huge linemen and dynamic, powerful backs.
Texas A&M: Hill>manziel, but I'm really surprised at the WR being able to perform as well as Evans
AU: I think we found a playmaker in Duke Williams. Therezie is our best defensive player

You got to respect what Bama's O did to Florida. Most yards ever against Florida, breaking 1996 Nebraska's Fiesta Bowl record. Sims had 445 passing.

the west has 6 very tough teams ... arky could be very competitive, though we just don't know that much about them ... the toughest division that has thus far existed in college football ... by a large margin ...

Interesting post.
Re:
We knew that Sumlin had recruited lights-out at those 3 key positions (where we lost guys to the NFL); but no one around here would hear it.
Oh well, 'tis the SECr.
The announcers during our game this week repeated that same theme, multiple times: This team is getting dangerously close to becoming 3-starters-deep, across the board.
There were always horses in the stable to step up and take over--with little or any downgrade--for Manziel, Evans, and Matthews.

I do respect the offense, but the defensive line is more impressive to me.

Hill is also running the offense more to Sumlin's vision than Johnny did.
Lost a better athlete probably got a better offense for it.

Bama is damn hard to cover. Mismatches from TE, FB/HB, WR, RB and QB on scramble...
It is impossible to cover all aspects of Bama's O. Just getting the OL to gel a little more and it will be an unstoppable combination. CamRob is growing up fast.

I disagree that Therezie is AU's best defender. Y'all are in trouble if so

Anyone who laughs at this point doesn't have a clue what they're talking about.

Agreed.
I always doubt whenever I hear how great the "next" player will be, etc.
Especially when replacing a Heisman winner.
I was wrong to undervalue Hill.
Sumlin is the boss of QB U

Seeing Cooper do what he wanted gave me heartburn.
He is....very good.

Who else?
Lawson? He's out. None of the DT/DE group has shown much this year. Whitehead got suspended. Mincy? Ok, maybe it is Mincy

Honestly, the guy I like on AU's defense is Frost. He's been a little up and down at times but I think he is a big talent

I agree.
i like Montravious Adams. He is the one I think can produce through the season.

Elaborate on Alabama's Dline please.
I like what they've done so far but I haven't been floored by them.

Watching the TV Saturday, i just felt like they did their job very well. They got good pressure on Driskel and did not allow much room for RBs to run.
They are big, strong and fast.

If you are surprised by A&Ms WR corps, you haven't been paying attention. RSJ and Speedy were both high 5 stars....everyone else that contributes was a 4 star. What no one realizes is when Cam Clear is back this week (6ft+ TE), the offense will be even more dynamic. He was hurt early in the USC game but was meant to have a huge part in the game plan.

We're a year away from being a very good defense — but we're better than we were, and we're getting some healthy players back this week.
I'm sure Sumlin's strategy for the remainder of the year is to continue to score at will, thereby minimizing any deficiencies brought on by our nascent defense.

Evans was a first round pick.
I thought perhaps the next man up might not be to his level.
I was wrong.
Sorry.
