Great post and thanks for the insight.
I do have one serious question for you:
What is the decibel level of a Street Glide Harley, travelling 18mph at 7pm, with 40% humidity and an American flag attached?
Seems, this is the biggest issue.

No one ever said they were quiet, Fayetteville enforces the noise ordinance to an extent. Call Monday morning and ask how many citations they issued.
Now, the stance could be that the Fayetteville PD helped the noise level by issueing those citations or that there was so much noise that it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Depends on perspective. Anyone who has spent any amount of time down there on Friday or Saturday knows it is loud as hell. My ears don't return to normal until Monday or Tuesday and I don't even own a bike.
I also know that a large contingent of people who post on this board complain non stop about the fans in our stadium who sit and watch instead of stand, cheer, call the hogs at the top of their voice, so some perspective is in order when considering noise violations. I love the hogs immensely but acknowledge that the TD cannon can be heard for a mile or so from the stadium easily and I'm sure that gets under the skin of many residents.

Silly comparison. Not in the same ballpark. But you have a vested interest in the rally, so it makes sense you aren't objective.

Stop the complaining. Bigger fish to fry in life than to worry about bike rallies.

At the risk of wading into the argument, I find myself on the fence about BBBQ. However, I will say that my opinion is that while Fayetteville is an awesome town, there are aspects associated with being part of its citizenry that just have to be endured. I'm not saying that my mentality is "deal with it," but it's something that you sort of have to accept in the same vein as college kids living in your neighborhood or Razorback game day traffic. It sucks, but it comes and goes.

This. Same as live meet in Hot Springs.

If you live in downtown Fayetteville, you see the event as an occupying force. Those folks have a symbiotic relationship with the University, so football games and the sort are a way of life, no bother. If you have a weekend marked on the calendar as "TIME TO LEAVE TOWN," you're going to resent every part of it. I think we can all agree that having the event on your doorstep is going to fatigue even the best of us.
Also, economic impact analysis is probably the most dubious enterprise. It's usually based on the best performing projection multiplied by businesses. They're also usually sought out by folks who would appreciate high projections, too.

Yeah, while I don't mind BBBQ and see it as an accepted burden, the revenue projections are like a strength and conditioning coach's announcement of offseason 40 times in that it behooves that person/people/institution to propagate high numbers.
I used to at Veltkamp claiming that multiple players were running in the low 4.3s

Yes! And then use those numbers to lobby folks/decision makers to support the cause with no objection. Cities and taxpayers fall for it all the time.
And I fell for it too. Veltkamp is getting those boys football ready, I thought. Hook, line, sinker.

Sturgis can bring 100k people in because it's a miner camp in the great northern plains desert.
There's wide open space for days and they truck in all the necessary peripherals. It's not set up in a Top 100 metro.

This whole discussion just reinforces why tailgating and game atmosphere in Fayetteville sucks so bad.

My neighbor is heading over tomorrow to fly the helicopter rides/tours for the attendees. Prayers sent.

Oh no, those poor jesus sandle wearing hippies of Fayetteville. They will now have to deal with Helicopter noise and the threat of the blade wash messing up their Bama bangs?
what to do, what to do?

I always left town during this weekend when I lived in Fayetteville, mainly because the town is full of guys like BillyBobPorkin. Seems like in those first years there would be a LR game to provide an obvious destination.

I understand what you're saying and concur but we're attempting to push back the frontiers of ignorance, combat stereotyping, save humanity, and rustle the jimmies of the haters along the way.
We're doing important work here.
