I wouldn't see anything wrong with the top three or four conference champs being automatic bids but I think upping the number to five would devalue the regular season losses too frequently.

It is a RARE midmajor that really deserves a shot. Easy schedules are not entirely their fault but a 1 or 2 loss midmajor just doesn't compare as a rule to a P5 conference champ with 1-2 losses

These are college kids. Let's at least pretend like we care about the classes they take. What's the timeline of these games?

With the extended playoffs and seasons most of you all are referring to, student athletes will definitely get paid.

I don't agree with this model. I want the best 8 teams or as close to the reality of that as possible within the confines of human judgement. If one of those conference teams are judged to be that good than include them. Would hate a system where a 11-1 SEC that lost a close SECCG sat out to allow a participation trophy to a Toledo type team that would otherwise get steam rolled by a power conference team.

Why would any SEC fan be for anything like that?

making 2 non power conference teams mandantory will screw some pretty good teams from the power conferences that got edged out of their championship.

Sucks. I don't necessarily agree that all of those conference champs ought to automatically get in. And don't get me started with those "at large" teams who play wimpy schedules.

The perfect system would have been to keep the BCS formula (no committee) and take the top four finishers.

16 would be better and you could do it with 1 extra week

P5 Conf CG. (Big 12 goes to 12 or gets waiver for a CCG) (10 teams)

2 at large on campus games or neutral site (4 teams)

And for the other conferences giving up CC games , 2 highest ranked conf champs meet in final game on campus ( 2 teams)

8 winners are then seeded for 4 on campus games the next week

Winners advance to current CFP rotation

Advantages- P5 Confs are guaranteed at least one spot in QTRs, and the mid majors are guaranteed at least 1 team in QTRS.

Play your way in!

The Perfect Playoff System
8 Team Playoff

Winners of Power Conference Championships
- ACC
- SEC
- Big10
- Big12
- Pac12

3 At Large Bids
- AT LEAST 2 teams from Non-Power Conferences (MEAC, AA, USA, Independents, Mid-American, Mountain West, Sun Belt)

The 3 At large could be rethought. I'd like to see some cinderella teams in football. Always makes the NCAA Tourney fun.

& how do you determine who plays whom?

No.

Frick that noise. If you ain't good enough to be top 4 you shouldn't get a shot.

Too many damn games and then these idiots don't want players compensated. It's a damn full time job.
