best defense he has had at Alabama

I'm sorry but there will never be a greater combination of defensive talent on the field at Alabama than:

Dre Kirkpatrick
Mark Barron
Dequan Menzie
Robert Lester
Dont'a Hightower
Courtney Upshaw
Nico Johnson
Jerrell Harris
Jesse Williams
Josh Chapman
Damian Square

Can you convince me that Alabama is better than LSU this year? Break down Alabama and LSU and show me where and how much better BAMA is at each position or each group (LB's, DL, QB). WR is obvious because of the experience......

QBs: Push
RBs: Bama, I prefer proven talent
WRs: Bama
OL: LSU

DL: Push/Bama (Bama has more depth at DL, LSU has the pass rush)
LBs: Push
Safety: Bama
CB: LSU

ST: LSU, until Bama proves it on the field.

LSU 3, Bama 3.5 IMO

Offense:

O-line: Advantage LSU, but I do not think this is as big of an advantage as most may think. One of the things that I remember about your o-line is Mett having to do the worm crawl. That is why I hesitate in joining the LSU oline hype. The Bama d-line from last year pales in comparison to the one Bama is fielding this year. That being said, there are huge question marks on our o-line with starting a true freshman at left tackle and subpar performance from left guard and right tackle.

QB: Push. Who the hell knows?

WR: Advantage Bama. Not debatable.

RB: I'm sure Fournette is the greatest thing since football was created, but he is still unproven. What will he look like in SEC play? How is he in blitz pick up? Knowledge of the playbook? He's going to be great eventually, but what will he look like this year? LSU's backups are decent, but nowhere near as talented as Jeremy Hill. Bama returns all of their backs from last year except for Dee Hart. One of the deepest backfields in college football. Advantage Alabama.

TE/hb/fb: Advantage Alabama. Kiffin may or may not be amazing as an OC, but if his past performance is indicative of what he will do at Bama, the TE's will be fed. I've never been overly impressed with the way that LSU uses tight ends. Was hoping to see more last year with Cam Cameron in that regard. LSU does, however, use their fullback as God intended. Will be interesting to see how Copeland's replacement fares.

Defense:

DL: Advantage Alabama. This may be the best D-line of the CNS era. It certainly is the deepest.

Linebackers: Advantage Alabama. Even with the loss of CJ Mosley, linebackers are a strength of this team. A lot of depth and young guys stepping up. Lee is a stud, and Ragland will prove to be valuable as well. Add in Reuben Foster and the newcomers, and you have a deep group. With LSU Kwon Alexander is a stud. I am curious to see what Beckwith does this year. Will he find a consistent place on the field this year? DJ Welter is a smart, lunch pail type player (insert other things you say about white linebackers ), but he isn't physically imposing, whiffs on tackles, etc.

Corners: Advantage LSU. And I am a little jealous that y'all have two studs returning at corner and we have two question marks. Will Cyrus Jones improve for Bama? Will Sylve stay healthy? How will the freshman measure up?

Safeties: Advantage Alabama. Landon Collins is in a contract year and will prove himself to be worthy of a first round draft pick. LSU's safeties weren't impressive last year.

Special teams:

Kicking/punting: Advantage LSU. I have no idea what your situation looks like there, but LSU usually fields good specialists. Bama's are a total crapshoot.

Returner: Advantage Alabama. With OBJ leaving for the draft, I am not sure who LSU will field as a returner. Christion Jones has been on a lot of preseason lists as a return man, and that will be a strength of the team.

I slacked off on a couple of the explanations, but you get the picture That being said, this is an August view, so there will probably be differences come November. Maybe LSU's safeties take it up a notch? Or Bama's o-line gels and becomes more of what we are used to. Or ___ gets injured/suspended and that position group suffers. Lots of different factors at play here.

TL;DR Bama is better than LSU right now.

Prom I'll answer your question talent wise there even but head coaching there not when it comes to adjustments. Les tends to be stuck on his run first pass second game plan where as Nicky adjust from run first to screens, tight end passes and play action just watch the previous meetings and you'll see what I mean.

Observers also say the QB situation is a hot mess. CBSSports reports that Coker isn't separating from Sims.

If you can convince us that this situation is significantly different than McCarron not being able to separate himself from Philip Sims until after the 2011 season had started, then we'll be worried. And we all know how that turned out. Until then...

Of course all of the Bama fans are going to say how much better Bama is than LSU. Let's play this out on the field. I personally think that Bama is overrated this year.

The bama DL will be significantly better than LSU. They have a ton of talent and the most depth Saban has had on the DL. LSU will be better than bama on the OL. Watching the two go against each other will be very fun.

Convincing you would be impossible, wouldn't it? Fortunately, I don't have to, and this situation will take care of itself.

So I guess we'll just see, won't we?
