and recruiting has pretty much gotten better every year since the site existed as well. LSU also had arguably the best recruiting class they've ever had this past cycle, so there's that too.

9-3 is what I think LSU will do but 8-4 or 10-2+ isn't impossible either. I would be shocked if they lost more than 4 games. Anything less than 8 wins would be a huge disappointment, and I don't think that's an unfair statement.

Ole Miss and Miss. St. are as good as they have been in quite a while. One, or both of them, could realistically finish ahead of LSU. I wouldn't put money on it, but it is a possibility.

I think 9-3 means that LSU will have at least one disapointing lose games. Alabama and Auburn are very clearly 2 losable games, but after that I do not see a team that we shouldn't beat.
That being said the SEC west will be absolutely brutal this year, with the mid-teir teams bringing back alot of weapons, and the top teams losing some key peices.

Nobody is expecting the replacements to suck. But you were 9-3 with good, experienced players. Not ridiculous to assume you'll stay there or drop off.
I don't advocate for low expectations, but in the end, if LSU finishes top 4 in the SEC West, it's unreasonable to be upset about that.

the quarterbacks were bad for a few years. Since 2005, LSU has put almost every running back that has played in the NFL and most of their receivers. They have put a ton of OL in the league as well. And outside Jefferson and Lee, the quarterbacks have all been drafted into the league as well. People seriously underestimate how badly Ryan Perrilloux's dismissal affected the LSU program for 3 years.

I somewhat consider 8-4 a very real possibility, perhaps probability, for LSU. But I agree that the gap between 8-4 and 7-5 is pretty big, both in perception and probably in reality, when you consider it means losing to Arky or someone like that.

We will see how things play out.
I expect bama will have played the weakest schedule in the sec as usual by the time the season is over. And AU the toughest.
You want to disagree, back it up with some reasons instead of irrelevant talk of last year.

Replacing solid, proven talent with young and unproven talent usually involves a little setback. Some of the typical middle of the road SECw teams are improving and LSU is basically replacing their entire offense. Which in turn means 3rd or 4th in the SECw, IMHO.

Don't you guys lose most of your defensive line?
I don't think I'd consider having D.J. Welter play another year a "benefit," either.
Also, isn't Jalen Mills moving to safety from CB now?

while the offense will likely take a step back, the defense should, barring injury, take a huge step forward. LSU has won 10 games in spite of a dreadful offense several times with solid defensive play. Honestly the offensive production last year was very uncharacteristic of LSU the past 10 years. They just didn't have experience on defense to compliment them. This year, I think it should be expected that the LSU defense should be playing up to LSU standards.

LSU's secondary and DL will both be strong. The ? for me is LB.
