If you are from the south there is only one answer.

neither is good for you but damn they are good.

Hashbrowns by a mile. I think I've had grits twice in my life.

Grits are good if they are gussied up enough (cheese, sausage etc.) Just plain, they are just that - kind of plain.

I do like me some hashbrown potaters too, um humm.

Actually had cheese grits and eggs for dinner. Was the old fashion kind that take 20 minutes to cook. Not that crap they serve these days.

Grits go great with almost anything, and can be eaten at any part of the day.

Hashbrowns, not so much.

Grits. Surprised at the people saying they put something sweet on it. Butter and salt with a little black pepper.

Love both so it would just depend on my mood at the time of the decision. Right now, I'd lean grits, especially cheese grits.

I'm a lifelong Southerner and I prefer hashbrowns. The choices at Waffle House and The Cracker Barrel are either grits or hashbrowns and I always get hashbrowns.

Hashbrowns. Grits are for closeted homosexuals.

Either. Grits are awesome.

Hashbrowns cooked in bacon grease in a cast iron skillet are tough to argue with though.

Grits. Good god, I can't believe so many Yankees are in this thread pretending to be Southern. Hashbrowns are good, don't get me wrong. But if it's an either/or question, grits win hands down. They're our cultural heritage. Hashbrowns are, like, Irish or something. They're a compromise between deep South grits and New England home fries.
