What's left that could possibly be offensive?
The term "Ole Miss"
The term "Rebels"
The colors Red and Blue (colors of the Rebel Flag)
Our band's name, "The Pride of the South"
Playing any form, fast or slow, of "Dixie"
The Confederate Soldier on the Circle (although he commemorates the University Greys)
The fact that, while we've publicly distanced ourselves from Colonel Reb, we still own the license and make money off of the likeness
Any University building, street, statue, etc. named after anyone associated with the University pre-1962 (including Swayze Field, Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, the Cochran Center)
Playing "I Saw the Light" since it's a hymn
"Swayze Field" since Tom Swayze didn't recruit African-American baseball players until the late 1960s
The entire alma mater since it has the term "Ole Miss" in it
Voting for the male class favorite as "Colonel Reb" (they may have already done this)
The Blues Museum and record collection since they perpetuate a negative stereotype of African-Americans
That's all I care to think of at the moment.

They have discussed changing "rebels" as well.
It will happen too. It is a process.
This.

More things we need to do away with or rename:
The clock on the Eastern Portico of the Lyceum since it was donated by the Class of 1927 who were obviously racist
Stewart Hall (named for Confederate general A.P. Stewart who served as chancellor from 1874-1886)
Hume Hall (named for Alfred Hume who served as chancellor from 1924-1930 and again from 1932-1935)

I would not have a problem demolishing Hume.

It was always so hot in there
Also, gray pants. They're racist. They need to go.

The players hate the grey paints. Not for racial reasons but because of how sweat shows up.
I do think everyone's paranoia is due to thinking if they are doing this now they eventually will take away Ole Miss and Rebels. I simply don't and think if anyone would acknowledge how little they've taken away in relation to Ole Miss and Rebels, they'd understand that's a little paranoid. I do think the administration should come out and say that we will not be changing either name. But maybe that's sends a wrong message so they just don't mention it.

Kind of like how they said they'd never take away Colonel Reb?

It's only a matter of time dude. We've become an apologist culture.

When did they say this? He hasn't been our mascot since 2003. How old are you?

Colonel Reb was still used on merchandise until a few years ago. Robert Khayat most definitely said in 2003 that Colonel Reb was our mascot and would always be out mascot. He said they were just getting rid of the costumed character on the field.

Couldn't some sort of contract be created to make it impossible for the names Ole Miss and Rebels to ever be changed by an over zealous administration?

Question.
For the people who are ok with the changes that have happened/ that are currently shaping up to happen. Is there a breaking point for you? And if so what is it?
Ole Miss?
Rebels?
Seriously 100% curious on this. Or will people just say "Ole Miss was past its time and needed to go" "Same as rebels"
You know they have been showing the Redskins owner the past few days on espn in an OTL interview and he backs the Redskins name with everything he has. It makes me wish we had an administration that would do the same.

Dan Snyder is in a far different circumstance than our administration is or will ever be.
As far as a "breaking point", I don't have one. If we ever officially renounce the name Rebels and Ole Miss then so what? Sure you'll hate it and so will I but does it affect how you feel about the school itself? Does it change the experiences and memories you made while on campus? If it does then I question what is actually important to you.
If your SO was in a car accident and paralyzed from the waste down would you stop loving or abandon him/her? Extreme analogy but I think you'll get my point.

That's a tough question to answer Gator. I'm sure if it gets to that point all hell will break loose. And the media will likely portray all those opposing the changes as evil racist.
