Chris Davis an undrafted rookie to watch (LINK)
quote:
Davis, whom I might have originally pegged as a fourth-round pick, has a shot to be known as more than just the guy who returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown to lift Auburn past Alabama and into the SEC Championship Game. He looks really good in San Diego. He might not have 4.4 speed, but he does have excellent recognition skills. I saw four practices during my visit to Chargers camp, and I think Davis had an interception in each one.

Did he have a pick all season last year?

SEC is just a higher level of play bro. Must be easy for him having to play with all this lower tier talent

Also....Ryan Smith, DB, Dallas Cowboys
Smith really surprised me. He's not very big -- 6-feet, 205 pounds -- but he has fine recognition skills and he's a hitter. Chris Davis' former Auburn teammate projects as a special teams standout and perhaps a third or fourth safet

Davis was SOOO close on that pass to Benjiman. No shorter WR even catches it IMO.

He's a hitter alright...hits his own d@mn teammate to turn a 5 yard pass into a 50 yard pass! Still mad

For that one play he also made about 50 or more explosive play saving tackles. I can live with one mistaje

any word on Ryan White with Green Bay?

Davis never had an interception at Auburn in his career

FWIW Gil Brandt's son went to Auburn, so I'm never surprised to see him complimenting Auburn players. (Not that Chris Davis doesn't deserve it!)

great news for Chris.
I am sure every one hopes he makes it.

Davis had great positioning. But when you're 7 or 8 inches shorter with shorter arms, your not going to be able to defend that no matter what.

It was a perfect route and a perfect pass. No defending it

Sorry...don't buy it. The reason his feet didn't leave the ground is he was late. Didn't even jump. Love Davis but that was not his best game.

Bullshite! You knock that sum batch on his arse and take the PI. That would run time off the clock, and they would have to try again. The ball was already on the 3, what's another yard?

Like I said, Davis is 7" shorter with 4" shorter wingspan and if he was longer, he knocks that ball down.
quote:Well, the ball was on the 2, not the 3. Another yard takes 50% of the distance they already had to go. And that play took 3 whole seconds off the clock. FSU still had a TO left. To think our defense was going to stop them from inside the 2 when they had time to run 3 or 4 plays, is pure asinine.

Unless you think them taking off the entire clock before scoring would have somehow benefited us more.

When you know you're beat, you take the penalty and try to stop them the next down.

Well, had there not been a PI on the previous play this would've been a 4th down play and the dynamics may have changed to where FSU tried a safer play that Auburn stopped.
