We're doing some final tinkering today with the Top247 for 2015 following The Opening and the new rankings will be released on Wednesday morning. A couple notes:
There will be a new No. 1 in the country
There will be a new No. 1 QB in the country
There was a lot of movement in the five-star range. Several dropped out and were replaced by new names. As things stand right now. 6 five-stars drop to 4 and 6 four-stars are bumped to 5.
Any guesses on who will be the new #1 in the country?
Top quarterback?
Six that lost their five stars and six four stars that bumped to five?

Don't feed the machine.
The fact that they are constantly tinkering with these rankings Just tells you how bullshite they pretty much are in the end. It would be one thing if they just put out positional rankings, but ranking all positions together is just stupid.

Tolliver had a 70-ish SPARQ rating, I wonder if he's one of the guys that drops?
These were the guys who were All Opening 1st Team, so probably some of the guys in here who were 4's are now going to be 5's.
All-Opening Team (Offense)
4* QB Travis Waller (Oregon)
5* QB Ricky Town (USC)
4* QB Blake Barnett (Alabama)
4* RB Soso Jamabo
4* RB RayRay McCloud III
4* WR Trent Irwin
4* WR Calvin Ridley (Alabama)
4* WR Christian Kirk
4* TE Jackson Harris (Georgia)
4* ATH Donte Jackson
All-Opening Team (Defense)
4* LB Roquan Smith
4* LB Josh Smith (Vanderbilt)
5* LB Malik Jefferson
5* LB Justin Hilliard
4* DB Tavarus McFadden
5* DB Derwin James (Florida State)
4* DB Holton Hill
5* DB Kevin Toliver II (LSU)
4* DB Justin Dunning (Texas A&M)
4* DB Xavier Lewis (LSU)

I think Daron Payne is going to drop. He's put together a few inconsistent camp performances.
I think Calvin Ridley will be a five star. Incoming Bama bump .
I also think Rosen will be the top quarterback in the country. Town is just not as consistent as Rosen on the camp circuit.

Well that's certainly not true at all. The opposite would be b.s.

There is truth to that.

I can see the logic of ranking positions against each other as a way to show which position group is stronger.
For example, Leonard Fournette being the top running back in last year's class was a big accomplishment, as there were a ton of talented backs in that class. This running back class leaves me with the meh. Damien Harris, top running back in this class, would be 4th or 5th at best last year.

Regarding 5 stars, I'd bet that guys who haven't been to any camps since mid-spring are likely to drop.
Would not be stunned to see Josh Sweat drop. I would have worried about Toliver dropping, but he's apparently been doing very well at camp the last week. Town is not #1 in the class material, in my opinion. Wouldn't be stunned to see Hyatt, Edoga, and Teuhema either drop or rise - OT rankings are prone to fluctuation from what I've seen. I'm not sold on Shy Tuttle at all, but others strongly disagree with me.
I see Deionte Thompson as a likely riser. He's a great playmaker. Damarkus Lodge is another guy I expect to rise. Wouldn't be surprised if they came closer to the consensus on Godwin and Campbell, too.
I don't know enough about other guys to say, really.

VFL Kahlil McKenzie will be the new #1

I believe Khalil Mckenzie will get bumped to a 5* after after his performance at a few camps recently

Kahlil is already a 5* and the #10 player overall.

247 is adjusting their own rankings. The composite is a separate metric that averages the ratings from other sites; they don't adjust that the same way.

Bama bumps; others will fall.

Interesting take. Which Bama players do you see getting a bump in their rankings?

Deionte Thompson - have your guys been talking him up? He screams 5-star to me.

Thompson is one of my favorite recruits in this next class, second only to Calvin Ridley. As far as film goes, he reminds me a lot of HaHa coming out of high school.

It wouldn't be recruiting if we didn't shake up the rankings based on a few backyard football games played in gym shorts.

All BAMA commits/leans/offers will rise as always.
Most LSU commits will "get passed up". I'm 100% sure Kevin Toliver and Meae Teuhema will drop more than 10 spots. Teuhema will eventually lose his 5th star, might not be tomorrow. As for Toliver, he's rated a bit too high. I see him dropping quite a bit throughout the year.

True. However, it is pretty hard to judge players outside of these camps because of the discrepancy in the competition. For example, watch Damien Harris's highlight film. Is he really that good? Or is the opponent really that bad?
