You misspelled Evan Boehm and we signed him out of HS.

So either you have a crystal ball or it is yet to be seen, agreed?
Marshall may, I repeat may, be an outside running threat to SCAR but Gurley is not unless it is an occasional well executed power pitch sweep maybe and that wouldn't work for long.
There will only be one, maybe two, RBs in the field that day with the speed to run outside on any good SEC defense and that is David Williams and maybe Shon Carson but I doubt even Shon would be able to do it against UGA's LBs.
The game will be won and lost between the tackles.

Dont forget Chubb and Michel. They'll be dressed out.

Oh, that guy who's continually picked behind Andrews. Yeah, he's not better.
And scrooster, I'll respond tomorrow.

Gurley has been getting outside against top level defenses. Didn't he break some long runs outside against LSU and SCar last season? His first touch in 2013 against Clemson went 80. I think he got long runs on Florida, but I don't remember if they were on the edge or not.

Fake handoff to gurley running outside, game over, all day.

The mizzou fan gets it.
Can you run the football when the opponent knows you want to run the football?
It is about efficiency on the ground in those money situations. And it is the difference between a good team and elite team.
The best stat that i have found for this is rushing TDs.
The best at running the rock into the endzone are the best teams at the end of the season (i.e. win the big games).
UGA is a great example of when running the rock for yards on 1st and 2nd down are meaningless (crowell was a beast on downs 1 and 2 when the defenses were respecting the pass option... but in running situations, Crowell was very underwhelming.)
2011 was another example of a bad rushing UGA team that lost every major game on the schedule (10-4). It is the fine line between good and great.

He's got a point and stats to back them up but I don't know if he'll come back in this thread. He doesn't post as often as he should.
His point though, is negated by the sheer statistical fact that teams that find themselves in 3rd and long fail more often than they succeed.
The money down is 2nd down ... always has been, always will be. You play with 1st down. 2nd down sets up everything. You don't want to face third and long too often ... it is a recipe for failure.
Inside the red zone is a completely different animal with completely different stats.
Red zone is where the going gets tough. You can't confuse the two.
Gurley, like Lattimore and I suspect Chubb and Williams will be .... is very good inside the twenty where those kind of backs never lose yards and can smell the end zone.

The only stat I referenced with numbers is rushing TDs.
It is the best one for reasons you mentioned.
But playcalling and efficiency on third and short tell the tale as well.
UGA versus Mizzou 2013.
UGA went about 13 straight third downs with all attempts going to the air (even the short yardage).
The only attempts on the ground were late in the 4th when Mizzou was in prevent.
What does this mean? Too much pressure to win was on the OL's pass pro and Murray's ability to make plays?
Did Murray have a bad day? Or did he not get any support.
The answer is that he didn't get any support and a solid defense is going to tee off on that and create turnovers.

Another example closer to home...
South Carolina driving the field on UGA.
3rd and short from the goalline.
You tell me... does South Carolina win this game?

If I recall correctly, we won the East that year anyway, and almost went to the NC, so the Carolina game really doesn't matter that much, win or lose.

One point that I forgot to make...
UGA ran for a lot of yards against Mizzou.
But as I said... if you aren't able to run on 3rd down or in the red zone, they are meaningless yards.
Murray had help moving the ball between the 20s.
But every money down was on his shoulders. And that is not how winning is done in the SEC. Otherwise, Mallett and other top throwing QBs would have racked up more hardware in the conference.

Wake me up the next time South Carolina is even in the same sentence with NC
Besides that one.

You're seriously underestimating Gurley's speed. He doesn't really look like he is moving that fast, but he is booking, he is a good bit faster than all but a couple of players on your defense.
Marshall is even faster. If they get into the secondary, neither will have any trouble erasing whatever angles your green DBs take.
You think UGA can't run a toss sweep? How long have you been watching football?

We have 3 RBs on the roster faster than either of them. Thanks.

Thompson will be the best QB in the East.
Take away Clemson game from two years ago and some mop up duties against garbage teams last year and this dude has done absolutely nothing. In two starts he was given last year he was mediocre to bad at best.
Dylan Thompson will be lucky to be the 3rd best QB in the East.

Yes.
This year, with this year's SCAR OLine and Davis and Wilds and Williams able to power through, yes.
Now, we sometimes have a problem with Spurrier wanting to get cute but I think he learned his lesson early last season and realized the best way to handle those situations is to just line-up and bang it home.
At the same time, Davis had a little fumblitis in a couple of games inside the five last year after he broke a finger. I hear he is going to wear gloves this year, but who knows.

Nicolae ... you may be the new dumbass standard on the SECr among the UGA fans. UGA fans, as a whole, are well-versed. You seem to be the exception.
FWIW, no, you don't have a single RB on your team faster than David Williams (4.38 and second fastest man on SCAR's team behind WR Byrd), and probably not Shon Carson (legit 4.4 LINK).

Here's my two cents:
UGA has a paper thin secondary, a few issues on the O-line, and are breaking in a new QB.
USC loses Clowney, and Shaw, and a DT, CB, and WR to the NFL.
Mizzou loses a ton of production from last year.
UF will have a stout defense, but their offense is lacking and the wheels have the pontential to come off with a few early losses.
Tenn is young, and is breaking in a new O-line and D-line.
The East is wide open this year. I wouldnt be suprised to see a 2 loss East champ this season.
