Why? Never understood hating music/musicians. I prefer some types over others, but I can really get in to anything.
I can listen to Kanye, T-Swift, The Beatles or Nirvana if it's good. I think good music is good music, but hair bands... meh. I mean Appetite for Destruction is a pretty solid album, but Nevermind and In Utero blow it out of the water.

It probably had to do with my age when it came out. I was a tween, and my brother (whom I despised at the time) gave it to me as a gift. I just never got into them.

You're missing out. Kurt had one of the greatest voices I've ever heard. Here is smells like teen spirit with the vocals isolated. It's their most popular song, and not their best, but damn his voice was powerful.
