As an older fan & a game I was at...

The 1982 Sugar Bowl, #2 UGA(10-1) vs #8 Pitt.(10-1) 4th qtr...UGA leading 24-20... Pitt with the ball, 4th & 5 from the UGA 33 with 42 sec. left. Bill Lewis dials up a blitz... ruh-roh...Dan Marino to John Y. Brown for the 33 yd TD...

Even if we'd won we'd still finished 2nd to 12-0 Clemson who beat us 13-3 that year when Herschel had his worst game as a Dawg. 28 carries for 111yds & 3 fumbles(2 lost)...

The best way to get a MU fan going nuts is say 5th down or kicked ball.
I hate it for Mizzou but as a Dawg fan I'm conflicted...

If the call was made properly GT woulda been 1990 consensus champ instead of a split poll with only 1/2...

That was as blatant as they come. I was super pissed in real time.

That was actually 1982 when we started off with Clemson (won 13-7) & then played a Steve Young led BYU team (won 17-14) before Herschel got healthy, went 11-0 & lost to Todd Blackledge & PSU 26-24 in the Sugar (Herman Archie dropped a wide open TD pass in the 4th qtr)...

I was at the Sugar Bowl with Georgia/Pitt game with Tony Dorsette in 1976. Only National Championship game I ever attended (other than last year's Egg Bowl).

The SEC refs explained the rules to you.

You guys just refuse to acknowledge them.

If I am not mistaken, that was the first Sugar Bowl in the Superdome and I also went to the first football game (not first event - but football game) in the Superdome in an exhibition game with the Saints and Houston. Billy "White Shoes" Johnson ran through and around and under the Saints.

You can't justify anything by saying sec refs explained the rule..... For such a great conference we sure do have some terrible referees

And 2004 lsu vs auburn when auburn missed the field goal at the end of the game but Ronnie Prude was flagged for jumping to block the kick and landed on top of an auburn player. Needless to say auburn kicked again and made it. After this thread I'm beginning to think auburn pays refs
