What meaningful wins does UGA have since 2005? Hawaii?
First, you tell me your definition of 'meaningful' then I'll respond. Rest assured he has more than a handful. Certainly more than zero.
But I can already tell you that yes, the hawaii win was meaningful. Any time you win the fricking sugar bowl it means something. Because if he hadn't won it, you'd be saying "Richt hasn't even played in a bcs bowl since 2005!!!!!!!!!!" Well, he did play in it, and won it. Not our fault who we played.

how many points did bama score in the '11 SECCG?

Fulmer's defenses and running game were amazing in his prime. There's a reason why Tennessee still has some of the most players currently playing in the NFL. They were tied with Alabama going into the 2013 season with 30.
Which doesn't answer the question at all.

Fulmer only managed to recruit literally starting NFL rosters on both sides of the ball. How he ran the program and recruited in the 90s was a model sec coaches had to imitate. If you fail to see that the rest of the SEC had to play catch up to UF and UT then I can't help you.
Stop lumping us together when Fulmer was Spurrier's bitch.

How was that...recruit well? No shite, that's what every college coach has been attempting to do since recruiting began. Do you think people look at fulmer and say "hmmmm....UT is winning some games, looks like they've had some good recruiting classes....HEY WAIT A MINUTE! WE need to start recruiting good players too!"
Don't be dense.

Nobody ever has and ever will play catch up to Richt.

Richt had to coach against dennis erickson, nick saban, urban meyer, phil fulmer, steve spurrier, and tubs. Fulmer never had to face anything close to that gauntlet.
Well that's just untrue

Sorry maybe my eyes are failing...did you list a group of coaches fulmer played against in one season that was better in your post? Because I don't see it.

There are literally hundreds of coaches throughout SEC history that would give anythign to have richt's career. And he's still not done yet.

SEC titles or national titles would be my definition.
Fulmer had not won one in 10 years when he was fired. The last seven years of Fulmer's tenure were excruciating. The national media still ranked us in the top 15 every preseason and our fans convinced themselves we could win the national title every year, but I was just waiting for him to be fired.
I see many UGA fans doing the same thing. Imo Fulmer should have been fired after 05. It is likely UGA will wait until its too late just as Tennessee did.

I made this point on our board last week. I hate to bring it up again, but take the '12 seccg. I'm making a serious point, so flames and lol gifs aren't needed, thanks. Let's say that we complete that last pass to malcolm mitchell and win the sec and play nd. In all likelihood, we beat notre dame. So, when it comes to richt's resume, that one play is the difference between 2 sec titles and 0 nattys and 3 sec titles and 1 natty.
Regardless of the outcome of that one play, would that make richt any different as a coach? If that play had gone different, would he all of a sudden be a better or worse coach? Would he do anything differently in 2014 based on that play? No, he's still the EXACT same coach regardless of what happened.
That is ONE play, taking 5 seconds of game clock, that is the difference between people saying richt underachieves and shoudl have been fired years ago and richt is excellent and the best coach we've ever had and he should be given a 5 year contract extention. Based on one play.
That's simply illogical.

Fulmer:
16 full seasons
152-52 (74.5%)
8-7 bowl record
2 SEC Titles (97/98)
5 SECCG Appearances
1 National Title
Richt:
13 seasons
126-45 (73.6%)
8-5 bowl record
2 SEC Titles (02/05)
5 SECCG Appearances
This is a tough one. Phil has a BCS championship but also has 2 losing seasons in conference play, Richt has 1. They both have the same number of SEC titles and are seperated, head to head, by the hob nail boot play.
Unless Mark gets that title inthe next three years, I got to give the nod to Phil. The title is the trump card. His teams also ended the year in the AP Top 10 6 out of 7 years. Mark...only 5 times total.

So, by your definition, every single year since 1992, there are only 2 SEC teams that will for sure play a meaningful game?

Another point in richt's favor for better coach. He hasn't sucked so much arse that we push him out the door. He's still going strong.

Damn, WG is on fire. Crushing fools with straight up logic. I'm not even going to chime in, just let the man do his work.

He definitely played a season against all those coaches except Erickson so I wouldn't say that's "not even close", I will do further research and see if we played a coach comparable to Erickson in OOC play and get back to you

Why are you just using 7 years? Fulmer was a coach for 16 seasons.

If you're at a big 6 school, yes. No coach at Tennessee, UGA, etc. should be able to keep their job if they go 10 years without an SEC title.

Like Fulmer he has made a few SEC title games, but failed to win them. We are closing in on a decade of that.

There is a post on your board that is comparing this UGA team to a Tennessee team that had 28 players drafted off it.

Why? It's mythical. Surely you as an Auburn fan understand that after what happened in 04.
Posted on 6/10/14 at 2:42 pm to WG_Dawg
right... had the hob-nail-boot play not happened, they'd be 4-4 against each other.
it's what gives richt the winning record head to head.

I agree. However, there is that ONE play in other coaches lives that changed thier legacy, fair or unfair, and Richt has that ONE play.
One Play and AU wins the National Title last year.
One Play and Miami beat Oh St in 2002.
One play and GT is unanimous national champs in 1990.
There are a ton of One Plays out there...that is football life, fair or unfair.
