We have legit reasoning to be excited for our team. We aren't elite. But we have a better chance now than ever to take a step towards that.
We're supposed to be like "oh no, we lost a lot before this run, better not be excited"?
Retarded.

3. Arkansas Football Fans:
Despite all evidence to the contrary, Razorbacks’ fans are quite vocal about their program’s prestige. They take pride in being in the SEC, the best conference in the land, and consider themselves one of the better programs in the nation…for some reason. In the last decade, they’ve only reached the postseason five times. They’ve never even won an SEC championship, much less come close to winning a national championship since joining the league. The only title the Razorbacks claim is from way back in 1964.
Since 2004, they’re averaging a marginal 6.8 wins-per-season. They also went 0-8 in the SEC last year. No respectable program should ever do that, regardless of coaching changes. How Arkansas fans can brag about anything is astonishing. The SEC is undoubtedly the best conference in the nation, but Razorbacks fans can’t really claim that their program is contributing to that fact.
Dude that wrote this is probably a poster here and got sailed on

Down votes? Ouch!
No man would dare threaten a messenger.
This is not my opinion especially since he narrowed it down to the last decade in most cases during which 3/4 have been pretty darn good.
But the literature is funny!

How are Notre Dame fans delusional? They were the best team in the country two years ago until bad calls in the first quarter against Bama set the tone for that game.
Obvious troll. Don't try so hard.
Notre Dame was horrid. Just because they handed you your heads....
Of course, you could just chalk up your response to your fans being on the list, too!

ull in baseball not even close, they think by playing no one they are a top team.

He should probably stick to poetry. That article was just dumb.

quote:I have never seen a CFB delusional fanbase poll that didn't have Bama on it and some had them #1 but I have seen them without Auburn. There is a huge difference in claiming you are going to be good when you are ranked in the top 5 but its delusional to be claiming you're the best team in the nation when you aren't even in the top 25. Especially if you still claim it after the season is over.
Where the hell is auburn?
You don't get a pass just because you say "We expect to be good every year". That's what makes you delusional to start with.

Not a bad list but, I would have substituted Duke BB for Indiana on that list. I mean they act like Christian Laettner is still on the team.

Honestly, I'd rather our fans be delusional and want elite success than be apathetic and content at going 6-6 or 7-5 and making a bowl game
Except this isn't what is happening.
Arkansas fans are content with a coach who just went 0-8 and, if their predictions on this board are any indication, will be content with a 6-6 type season this year with a couple conference wins. The problem is that the argument can be that Arkansas is so terrible, that even hoping for that is delusional.
So no, Arkansas don't appear to have high expectations. They appear to moderate to low expectations that are likely unattainable in the immediate future.
It's actually pretty fascinating.

Also, this...
Is a point I've been making all along. The new coach/bad players/distractions/etc. excuses are fine, but only if you are ok with being thought of like Vandy or Kansas. No self-respecting football program in this era of parity should EVER go 0-fer in conference play. Everyone but Tyler Wilson quit in 2012, they had fricking John L. Smith at the helm and one of the most obvious distractions in recent memory and STILL won two conference games.
This is why I don't put any stock in the "Bielema is building argument". He still went 0-8 at a program that at the very least fancies itself as respectable SEC program. There is simply never an excuse for that and it reflects unbelievably poorly on him.

In his first season after taking over a complete dumpster fire and trying to do a complete 180 with the offense.
If he goes 0-8 in year three then there will most likely be a moving fan permanently parked outside of his house and his phone records will be FOI'd once a month.

They beat two 0-8 teams. 2013 Arkansas didn't play a team with worse than a 3-5 conference record.
Lets not try and act like the schedules were the exact same.
Not to mention the amount of talent that left the program after the '12 season.

What surprises me about Arkansas is their willingness to pay a coach so much money who does not win or recruit very well. They can afford better.
