Considering Snyder has already fielded an average (at worst) defense in 2012

I think you meant to say average at best. That defense was ranked about 60th nationally.

Look at yards per play, not yards per game. Defenses of teams that employ a hurry up offense defend more plays than defenses of teams that employ Bert-ball.

Stonehog, are you here to argue or is your football iq really that low. Serious question.

Scoring Defense was #26.

Total Yardage Defense was #57, but that gets inflated due to the kind of offense we run.

More informative are the rate stats: Pass Efficiency defense was #39, and 3rd Down Efficiency Defense was #16.

And if you want to get sabermetric, Football Outsiders' FEI rated that defense #20, and the S&P rated it #9.

So no, I meant average at worst. The 2012 defense was actually pretty good. Everyone focuses on the one blowup game against LaTech, but A&M didn't give up 30 pts in any other game that year. That kind of defense, coupled w/ Sumlin's offense, will win a lot of games.
