I'm not crazy about the new format for men's golf with ta king the top 8 from the stroke play portion and then have an 8 team match play format. Alabama blew away the field in stroke play 2 years ago and would have been national Champs under the old format and the one still used by the women. Alabama won their first two matches before losing to Jordan Spieth and Texas on the last hole of the very last match.

yeah that was a tough way to lose. But Bama still had it right up until the final shots. Bama's guy in the last match completely whiffed on a chip shot and we lost. I thought he was just taking a practice swing, but it was a whiff.

I remember that. If the Bama player would have gotten up and down the Texas kid would have had to make his putt to win the match. He ended up making the putt any way, but the pressure was off only needing two putts to win. Bama got redemption last year though.

The top 8 teams after 3 days (54 holes) of stroke play advance to an 8 team match play format.
