We're staying like 10 minutes or so from the French Quarter. There are about 10 people coming. What restaurants, activities, and bars you would recommend?

Willie Mae's Scotch House
Commander's Palace (pricey but the best restaurant in the country)
Original Pierre Maspero's
Those are my favorites

Hurricanes and piano bar at Pat O's. Hand grenades at Tropical Isle. Check out the trashy looking live sex acts club for the herpes.
Cochon Butcher in the morning for the hangover.

Frenchman St, late night.
You didn't go to New Orleans if this doesn't happen.

when are you going?
go to tips on friday evening.
grab some fresh hand rolled cigars from new orleans cigar shop (it may be called NO cigar factory) on Decatur and take a walk through the riverfront park.
Hi Ho Lounge on St. Claude late night one evening, and go ahead and walk into the bar across the street while you are there. i wouldn't walk too far away from that block though, although the Daquerie (or however it is spelled) shop two blocks down would be worth the extra danger.
plenty of good eats. Bon Ton Cafe on magazine, jaques imos, Butcher>Cochon so eat that for lunch one day, peche, domenica, coquette (sp?), La Petit Grocery is one of my favorites and it is on magazine so you could kill two birds for dinner there one night,
lots of good steakhouses in the area, Mr. Johns is probably my favorite that I have been to. We have done office christmas party at Dickie Brennans and it is also real good.
If you get out to lakeview, Tony Angello's has best italian in the city IMO, Russell's marina grill,Katie's & restaurant bar is one of the best breakfast/lunch places in the city - lots of interesting things on the menu and is it is in mid-city.
Most of the stuff I have mentioned is nicer stuff, russell's & katies or good places for breakfast or lunch, warehouse grill is also another good one which would be closer to downton and butcher is a good lunch spot downtown.
If you are going to be anywhere near the airport at all go to Harbor Seafood & Oyster Bar. It is by the airport in Kenner, but is a great spot to grab some beer and lots of fresh seafood done however you want.

Bourbon house oyster bar, right across from acme oyster house. Much better and no line.
K-Paul's is the restaurant that invented blackening. Do it. May have to wear slacks and a button down but it's worth it.
Hand grenades are too sweet, if you're looking for a long night then stay away from these; you'll be puking pretty quick.

If you see chargrilled oysters on the menu- order them. I've had them at a variety of places there and they are always awesome, better than bienville or Rockefeller IMO. It's 740 am and I could eat some now.
As far as walking around etc- don't be stupid but don't be scared either- enjoy it.

Cat's Meow Karaoke, if you know how to work the crowd. If you do, the bitches will line up for you. That will lead to a 24 hour bender that you'll never forget. Science.
