Who are you to say how one group of people takes offensive speech directed towards them? Like you said racism(or sexism or intellectual capacity) is just racism it doesn't make one word worse than the others because words change in their meaning all the time. Case in point the word retard.
I disagree. Words are wind. People give words power and meaning and people of every ethnicity are usually awful towards each other.

Exactly. Gay people would be way better off if they didn't let the fact they're homosexual DEFINE who they are.

Being homosexual does define them, a huge part of them. That's not the point.

That is the point. None of us gives a damn if you take it up the arse, so stop bringing it up.

Not in this thread. It's about what words you can use.

I think it's unacceptable now.
The best hecklers are clever, good-natured folks who don't rely upon pejoratives for a "look at me!" effect of eliciting an uncomfortable laugh from their audience.
Heckling Is about the game, not a kid's ethnicity or sexuality.
Of course, there will always exist boorish Neanderthals who wouldn't know good sportsmanship if it reached out and shook hands with em.
this
if you have to resort to racial and sexual attacks you are a terrible heckler and need to STFU b/c you're probably ruining the game for the people around you.
nobody want to hear some a-hole screaming out slurs for 3 hours.

Racial slurs should never be used. Gay jokes are fair game. That right fielder chose to suck cock and should know that he's going to hell.

prejudices fools are an embarrassment to their schools. I remember when Bama started 3 black basketball players and a LSU student said Bama going to the NAACP tournament (Yeah I was there). I remember LSU students chanting 1,3,5,9 who's that monkey on the line?
Just as racial and religious prejudices are out of date (except for the Poli Board), sexual orientation is out of bounds too.

LSU has always had problems with race relations

Just wondering....Did the wholesale ridicule and contempt for Tim Tebow due to his unashamed religious beliefs ever get deemed unacceptable- or is he still fair game?

People went overboard with him.. I bet x% still thinks of him as gay also. Tebow has a right to his religion as does anybody else.

I'm just wondering...Because as I see it, it sure seems like it's perfectly okay to ridicule- just as long as you ridicule the "right people".
Otherwise, you are an insensitive bigot, in some form or another.

I remember at SEC media days some reporter asked Tebow if he was still a virgin, which was preposterous, but the media didn't make a big deal about it.
What would happen if a media member asked Sam the same thing? What would happen?
That might not be a good example, because the Tebow question was based on his faith. So what would be a comparable question for Sam?

My guess would be that the media member would quickly become a "former media member" if he dared to ask Michael Sam a question involving the morality of his particular lifestyle- but again- that's just a guess.

Ask him when was the last time he heard himself fart?

I think a comparable question would be asking who is the man in the relationship. And if that question was asked the national media would run out of paper and bandwidth.
