When did UGA reside in Louisiana? I think MS and AL also have more talent per capita than GA.

Whoever you quoted was incorrect in saying "per capita", but overall there is far more talent in GA than those others. We're behind CA, TX, and FL pretty much when it comes to HS talent on a yearly basis.

Richt is a hell of a coach. The GA athletic department has saddled him with very difficult schedules. One year GA played AZ St., OK St. and GA Tech out of conference. It's ridiculous to expect titles when you have a brutal schedule. The two years they won the SEC, there were two undefeated teams out there, so they didn't get to back their way in to a title game the way many SEC champions have.

This is another point that UGA fans make yet others accuse us of "whining" or "making excuses". In the last 20 years of the SEC:
96 UF
03 LSU
06 UF
07 LSU
08 UF
11 bama
12 bama
13 AU
have all played for a national title while having at least 1 loss. 01 UT would have played for it as well with 1 loss had they not been upset in the SECCG. There is certainly a fair amount of good fortune needed to win it all, and those teams got it. But hey that's life.

You may be mistaking total numbers, and per capita. LA has the most NFL talent per capita. Actually DC was ahead, but they aren't state.
Eta did quick search. Article is from Step '12.
says 4th year in a row.

Richt's problem is he has never been able to put together a complete team. And the reason he has never had a complete team:
1. Top 10 recruiting when top 5 is needed. We often miss on key instate prospects.
2. Lack of daily ongoing discipline. This leads to inadequate performance on and off the field.
3. Poor roster management. We never have a full roster compared to our competition because Richt does not recruit allowing for inevitable attrition which has been considerable on all of his squads.

Explain to me how there wasn't some luck involved in that play. It was an incredible play, but also lucky
Unless him being called down somehow ends the game and also gives Oregon a single point, the game continues and Auburn still wins.

I disagree on that. 02 and 04 were complete teams with no real weaknesses. 12 had enough offense to carry the weak spots on defense except for about 20 minutes worth of the biggest game of the year, and it proved to be our undoing.

While it's true that bama and UF had a run of top 2/3 classes, we've had enough talent. Of course it'd be nice to have a few more 5 stars, but outside of a few years we've had plenty enough talent.

On the contrary we've suffered due to too much discipline. Our players aren't doing anything different on the weekends than what the other SEC players are doing. But instead of making people run stadiums or brushing a drug test under the rug, we let the AJC publish it for national news and suspend for first offenses.
Our biggest issues have been lack of good coordinators at the same time (minus 01-04).

Why does everyone want us to fire Richt?

Yeah I agree with that logic, and it's pretty simple really. If you have 5 stars across the board, you'll likely be more successful. I get that. All I'm saying is that under Richt there have been years where even despite "only" have a top 10 class we've had enough talent to win it all but haven't for one reason or another.

It's an interesting situation for sure. Opposing fan bases want us to fire Richt because none of them (other than Florida) can put together a winning record against him.
Some in our fan base want us to fire Richt because despite that strong overall record we haven't "put it all together" under him yet.

You're a pretty good poster IMO, so I will take the post at face value in saying; "he's better than a lot of coaches" and he was hamstrung by a bad school president and social experiment of an athletic director for a lot of his tenure.
I think we are building a better ship and crew for this next venture into the uncharted waters of the first 4+1 season.
However the LSU fan will be talking college baseball by the end of October this season.

GT: 12-1
AU: 8-5
SC: 8-5
UT: 9-4
Bama: 3-2
LSU: 4-4
Because despite everyone that says he sucks he's actually been pretty successful against the best teams we play. His one real blemish is against UF at 5-8, but he's won 3 in a row and 4 of the last 7, which considering our 1990-present history with florida is pretty remarkable.

I don't disagree with you at all. That was definitely a possibility. But 30 extra yards on that play definitely had some luck. It's not like Auburn's offense had been marching down the field all game and it was an automatic touchdown that was coming. Every single team I mentioned made great plays, and could have won otherwise, but also had luck. I thought even the most delusional fan would realize that. Guess not.
